Caring for women in border areas

Thoi Son Ward was established by merging three wards: Thoi Son, Nhon Hung, and Nha Bang, and shares a 5.5km border with Cambodia. Based on local realities, the Women's Union of the ward has chosen a strategic and systematic approach to developing emulation movements, attracting a large number of members and women to participate.

According to Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of the ward, the emulation movement "Building the Vietnamese woman of the new era," linked with studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh, has created a strong ripple effect, with 87 exemplary individuals being discovered and promoted. The campaign "Building a family with 5 no's and 3 clean's" has also been widely implemented, helping over 1,500 households meet the criteria, contributing to building a civilized lifestyle.

During the past term, the Women's Union at all levels in Thoi Son ward mobilized organizations and individuals with a total of over 1.4 billion VND to support the construction and repair of 13 houses for needy families, award scholarships to orphans, and provide thousands of gifts to poor households. To date, Thoi Son ward has achieved a 100% rate of female leaders in all agencies and units under its jurisdiction. The Union also helped 316 families with women escape poverty and near-poverty, exceeding the set target. The entrusted activities with the Social Policy Bank were managed effectively, with a total outstanding loan balance of 32.5 billion VND, helping hundreds of women access capital to develop their family economies .

Ms. Neáng Ca Kim, residing in Hòa Hưng hamlet, shared: “Thanks to the support and assistance of the local government and the Women's Union of the ward, I have capital to start a business, buy and sell, and expand my stall. I also participated in communication classes and learned how to sell online. Currently, my income is more stable, I can provide for my children's education, and I am becoming more confident.”

Women's association work and movements receive close attention from the Party Committee, government, and Vietnam Fatherland Front of the ward; and effective coordination from various departments, agencies, and organizations. The Executive Committee of the Women's Union constantly innovates the content and methods of its activities; closely follows the direction of the Party Committee, the political tasks of the locality, and the resolutions of the Women's Union congresses at all levels, thereby concretizing them into key targets and tasks. At the same time, the Union proactively coordinates with relevant departments and localities, taking advantage of resources to support the activities of the Union and women's movements, gradually affirming its role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights of women and children...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha stated that during the 2025-2030 term, the Women's Union of the ward strives to achieve the following goals: supporting women's economic development, building safe families for women and children, participating in Party building and government building, supporting women's digital transformation, foreign affairs, and international cooperation…

The Women's Union of the ward will continue to extensively and effectively implement the emulation movement "Building the Vietnamese woman of the new era," linked with two major campaigns: "Cultivating qualities of self-confidence, self-respect, loyalty, and diligence" and "Building a family with 5 no's and 3 clean's."
