Concern from the grassroots
As the year draws to a close, the workload in factories and enterprises increases, making the work even more arduous for the laborers. Understanding this, many levels of government, departments, and trade union organizations in Hai Phong have taken early action.
From the beginning of the fourth quarter, many businesses have been reviewing the living conditions, wages, and bonuses of their employees. These meetings between the Trade Union and business representatives have been quiet but practical, with the sole objective of ensuring that no worker is left behind.
Ms. Tran Thi Hang, from MK2 factory, Makalot Vietnam Garment Co., Ltd. (Ha Tay commune), emotionally shared: “I just received a savings passbook worth 6 million VND from the Trade Union and the company. This is a great joy for my family, giving me the motivation to overcome difficulties and work with peace of mind.”
Ms. Hang is one of 82 union members and workers with difficult circumstances at Makalot Vietnam Garment Co., Ltd. who received savings passbooks. This is an annual activity of the company and is organized in mid-October to encourage and show appreciation to its employees.
Besides awarding savings passbooks, Makalot Vietnam Garment Co., Ltd. typically allocates 300 million to 400 million VND per year to organize a "lucky draw" program at the end of the year. The prizes are practical items for the daily lives of employees, such as bicycles, rice cookers, televisions, refrigerators, and washing machines.
Mr. Kevin Lee, Deputy General Director of Makalot Vietnam Garment Co., Ltd., said: “We are striving to build better policies and benefits for our employees every year so that they have a better, more modern working environment and consider this their second home to work together to develop the business.”

In recent years, caring for workers during Tet (Lunar New Year) in Hai Phong has gone beyond simply providing material support. Also last October, over 300 workers at Meiko Hai Duong Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Phuc Dien Industrial Park) learned about the Social Insurance Law and enthusiastically participated in the 17th sports event organized by the company's trade union. Activities aimed at boosting employee morale and motivating them to work are organized by most businesses in the industrial park.
In addition, trade union levels have also intensified inspections and monitoring of the salary and bonus payment situation in businesses, ensuring that no salary arrears or delays occur during the Tet holiday.
A sustainable "foundation"

According to the plan, the Vietnam Trade Union will mobilize maximum resources to ensure that all union members and workers have a joyful, safe, and healthy Tet holiday in 2026.
At the level of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, delegations will be organized to visit, give gifts, and extend New Year greetings to workers in enterprises, industrial parks, export processing zones, remote areas, those engaged in strenuous occupations, or those affected by natural disasters. Each New Year gift package is expected to be worth 1.3 million VND (including 1 million VND in cash and 300,000 VND in goods).
It is projected that during the 2026 Tet holiday, trade unions at all levels will mobilize approximately 6,000 billion VND to care for and support union members and workers nationwide. This year, the scale and resources are expected to increase by 10-15%.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, Vice President of the Hai Phong City Federation of Labor, the Federation plans to provide gifts, subsidies, and bus tickets for approximately 60,000 workers from distant provinces (150 km or more) to return home for Tet (Lunar New Year). In addition to funding from the Trade Union budget, the Federation plans to request the Hai Phong City People's Committee to provide 20 billion VND to support workers during Tet.
One of the major events planned by the City Federation of Labor in the fourth quarter of this year is a job fair in both the East and West of the city, with the participation of 400 businesses seeking to recruit workers, demonstrating the trade union's support for businesses. At the same time, it expands job opportunities for workers, especially self-employed individuals.
The program will serve as an effective bridge between workers and businesses, contributing to job creation during the year-end period, fostering sustainable labor structure shifts, and meeting the socio -economic development requirements of the city and the country.
