On the afternoon of December 26, at a press conference providing information on socio -economic issues in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Luong Thi Toi, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, informed about the program to care for the Lunar New Year of the Snake in 2025.

According to Ms. Toi, the level of gifts for units and individuals is basically proposed to continue to be implemented as in the 2024 Lunar New Year, including giving Tet gifts to policy beneficiaries with meritorious services, the elderly, poor households, social protection, children in special circumstances and cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers working in the administrative and career sectors.
Specifically, the policy beneficiaries have 325,448 gifts, with a budget of 423.7 billion VND. The poor households have 1.25 million VND/gift, 8,575 gifts with a budget of 10.7 billion VND.
Social protection beneficiaries with a rate of 1.15 million VND/person, 148,215 beneficiaries with a cost of 170.4 billion VND. Elderly people without pension or monthly social insurance benefits, a rate of 1.15 million VND/person, 7,542 beneficiaries with a cost of more than 8.6 billion VND.
Presented gifts to 115 former political prisoners and prisoners of war who have not yet enjoyed the policy regime (due to insufficient documents according to regulations) and are in difficult circumstances, the gift amount is 1.5 million VND/gift. Presented gifts to 30 former members of the Youth Volunteer Association who are in difficult circumstances, the gift amount is 1.5 million VND/gift.
Presented gifts to 32 households in Can Gio forest protection with difficult economic circumstances, gift amount of 1.5 million VND/gift. Presented gifts to 85 areas, student management teams at drug rehabilitation facilities, social protection facilities, Nhan Ai hospital, cash is 5 million VND/area, team.
The budget for organizing Tet care activities for agencies, units, and establishments in districts, towns, and Thu Duc City includes: 308 People's Committees of communes, wards, and towns, with a cash expenditure of 10 million VND, estimated at more than 3 billion VND; 306 commune, ward, and town health stations, with a cash expenditure of 5 million VND/station, with an estimated budget of more than 1.5 billion VND.
4,829 residential areas and hamlets, cash expenditure of 5 million VND/residential area and hamlet, estimated cost of more than 24 billion VND.
The total estimated budget for organizing activities to take care of Tet At Ty in 2025 is 908 billion VND, an increase of 47 billion VND compared to Tet Giap Thin in 2024, spent from the city budget.
In addition, this year's Tet care also comes from the central budget with 16.5 billion VND, mobilized sources of more than 50 billion VND, bringing the total amount of Tet care to nearly 976 billion VND.
Avoid year-end job scams
Leaders of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs also informed about the year-end employment situation and advised workers to avoid being scammed when looking for jobs.
Accordingly, in recent times, newspapers and radio stations have frequently published articles warning about the situation of workers trusting advertisements for easy jobs with high salaries, especially information posted on social networking sites.
"In this situation, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has sent a document to localities and training institutions to inform them of issues that need attention and requested that units increase information dissemination to the people and students to be vigilant against fraudulent tricks that exploit the psychology of wanting to find a job quickly, without requiring high recruitment conditions, and light work; and provide a list of units with the function of providing employment services for workers to proactively compare" - Ms. Toi said.
In addition, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has requested the City Police to direct professional units to deploy measures to prevent, combat and stop false advertising tricks on social networks related to job consulting and referrals.
"Workers need to be vigilant against advertisements and verify the information; workers who are looking for jobs in the country should contact job service centers and businesses licensed to operate job services to find information on labor recruitment and choose suitable jobs," Ms. Toi shared.
