A Bahnar communal house catches fire.

On the afternoon of February 8th, Mr. Le Quang Chinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Kon Braih commune, Quang Ngai province, announced that a fire had occurred in the commune, completely destroying the communal house of Kon Brap Ju village.

The fire broke out at approximately 3:30 PM on the same day. Initially, the flames started in the roof and then spread to the entire communal house. Although the Kon Braih Commune People's Committee quickly mobilized forces and residents of Kon Brăp Ju village to extinguish the fire, because the communal house was made of flammable materials such as bamboo, thatch, and wood, which were already dry, coupled with strong winds, the fire spread rapidly and completely destroyed the communal house.

Kon Brăp Ju village has 191 households with nearly 800 inhabitants, over 94% of whom are Bahnar ethnic people. The village's communal house (Rong house) retains its original traditional architecture and is considered the largest communal house of the Bahnar people in Quang Ngai province. Although the fire did not cause any casualties, it has significantly impacted the cultural symbol of Kon Brăp Ju village in particular, and the Bahnar community in Quang Ngai in general.

The incident is currently under investigation by the authorities.
