After two matches, the Democratic Republic of Congo has only one point and faces a crucial match against Uzbekistan at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
The African representatives are considered slightly superior, but a streak of four consecutive matches without a win in all competitions is putting increasing pressure on coach Sebastien Desabre and his team.
In their second match, the Democratic Republic of Congo only lost 0-1 to Colombia. Although they continued their record of not losing by more than one goal under Desabre, that defeat left "The Leopards" with no room for error. To qualify for the round of 32, they had to win all three points and compete for a spot reserved for the best third-placed teams.
Unlike their performance against Portugal, the Democratic Republic of Congo struggled to control possession against Colombia and only managed to create pressure after conceding a goal in the 76th minute. With one of the worst goal differences in the tournament, it's almost impossible for Uzbekistan to stage a comeback and win convincingly against the Democratic Republic of Congo. Their poor form and four consecutive defeats make the Central Asian representatives the underdogs in this crucial match.
