Ha Tinh: Consumer price index increases by 1.6%

The downward adjustment in fuel prices contributed to a decrease in the consumer price index in November 2023.

According to the General Statistics Office, the decrease in gasoline and diesel prices during the adjustments in November was one of the main reasons contributing to the reduction in the CPI. Accordingly, the CPI in Ha Tinh in November 2023 decreased by 0.59% compared to the previous month.

Of the 11 main groups of goods and services, 4 groups saw price increases, 5 groups saw price decreases, and 2 groups showed no change in their indices. Overall, in the first 11 months of 2023, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 1.6% compared to the same period last year. According to relevant authorities, the consumer market has generally been stable since the beginning of the year, with price increases for basic goods under control. Significant price fluctuations were mainly concentrated in the food, fuel, and utilities sectors, with increases mainly seen in the early months of the year; prices of these items gradually stabilized in the later months. The general economic difficulties have limited demand for luxury and high-value goods, leading retailers to lower prices to stimulate consumer spending.

The General Statistics Office forecasts that in December 2023, demand for goods to serve the New Year and Lunar New Year holidays will increase, and the prices of some essential goods will tend to rise. Therefore, the retail price index for goods and services in December 2023 is expected to increase accordingly.
