In 2024, Lang Son province's PCI index reached 69.01 points (down 0.04 points compared to 2023), ranking 16th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide (down 3 places compared to 2023). Within the northern midland and mountainous region, Lang Son ranked 3rd out of 14 provinces and cities.
Accordingly, the indicators that improved include: Market entry; Transparency; Informal costs; Business support policies; while the indicators that declined are: Access to land; Time costs; Fair competition; Dynamism of provincial government; Labor training; Legal institutions and security and order.

According to results published by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Lang Son's ranking in the province-level Green Index (PGI) has improved from 62nd to 31st out of 63 provinces and cities, with a total of 22.63 points.
The component indicators that increased in score are: “Pollution and disaster mitigation” at 4.95 points; “Ensuring compliance” at 4.95 points; “Promoting green practices” at 6.71 points; and “Incentive policies and support services” at 6.02 points.

Lang Son maintains its ranking in the Top 30 localities with the best governance quality in 2024.
Lang Son province is determined to continue to concretize and organize the implementation of improvements to the investment and business environment with the spirit of putting people and businesses at the center and as the main subjects.
In addition, all levels of government continue to focus on specific tasks such as: reducing the time taken to process administrative procedures, increasing access to credit, improving access to land procedures, and proactively addressing difficulties for businesses…

In addition, Lang Son province continues to promote digital transformation, build a digital government, digital border gates, and a digital economy ; and continues to enhance the role and responsibility of heads of agencies and units in implementing the PCI and PGI assessment indicators.
The provincial business association and businesses will continue to play a bridging role, working alongside the government in formulating and providing feedback on policies, contributing to the sustainable development of businesses.
The Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) measures the quality of economic governance by provincial governments across 10 key areas crucial to the development of private sector businesses; it represents the "collection of voices" from the business community regarding the business environment of provinces and cities.
The 2024 PCI index is analyzed based on data collected from 8,566 operating private enterprises in 63 provinces and cities nationwide and 701 newly established enterprises.
