When mentioning Chiềng Sơn border commune, one cannot fail to mention Pha Luông peak in Pha Luông village, with an altitude of nearly 2000 meters above sea level. Considered the "roof" of the Mộc Châu National Tourist Area, it has become a dream destination for tourists who love trekking, exploring, and conquering nature. Mr. Hoàng Văn Tuấn, from Hanoi, shared: "Coming to Pha Luông, I experienced the feeling of conquering a mountain peak with an impressive altitude. Especially the feeling of gazing at the majestic and pristine scenery from above is something not found everywhere. Along with that, I enjoyed the fresh, cool air, which helped me relax after the stress and fatigue of life."
In addition, tourist destinations in So Luon and Kho Hong villages offer a peaceful and pristine environment, suitable for ecotourism, relaxation, and experiencing local life. In Kho Hong village, visitors can explore the Dragon Hill area and Pha Tu Dam peak – still retaining their unspoiled beauty, where nature blends with legends passed down within the Mong community, creating a mysterious and unique atmosphere that stimulates curiosity and a passion for exploration. Meanwhile, in So Luon village, amidst the vast green expanse of the mountains and forests, the "A Garden" cafe stands out with its vibrant flower-filled hillsides, attracting many tourists, especially young people, to visit, experience, and capture beautiful photos.

Mr. Lo Van Tien, manager of the "One Garden" cafe, said: "Taking advantage of the wide and airy valley terrain, we divided it into many areas to plant various types of trees and flowers year-round, giving visitors many choices of photo spots; at the same time, we added many small decorative elements, from pretty white fences and small chairs placed in the middle of the hill, to beautiful cafe spaces, all contributing to creating a romantic setting that attracts tourists."
In Chieng Son, tourists can immerse themselves in activities exploring local culture, with traditional stilt houses, winding mountain passes, and the genuine, simple nature of the local people. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, Chieng Son welcomed over 5,000 tourists, including more than 100 international visitors; revenue from tourism activities reached over 650 million VND. These are positive signs, affirming the correct direction of the locality in making tourism a driving force for socio-economic development.

The Chiềng Sơn commune pays close attention to and directs state management of tourism, creating favorable conditions for organizations and individuals to participate in tourism development. The commune People's Committee has advised on the establishment of a Steering Committee for Tourism Development to strengthen leadership and coordinate activities. Mr. Đỗ Công Bình, Vice Chairman of the commune People's Committee, shared: The commune identifies the development of ecotourism, community tourism, and agricultural experiences associated with the preservation of local culture as a sustainable direction, contributing to promoting socio-economic development. However, tourism activities in the area still face many difficulties, especially limited tourism infrastructure and a lack of diverse tourism products. In 2026, the commune will continue to strengthen the promotion of tourist destinations such as Khò Hồng, Sò Lườn, and Pha Luông; and at the same time, take advantage of resources to invest in and upgrade infrastructure and develop products. Currently, the commune is reviewing the criteria to propose the recognition of So Luon village as a tourist destination.
With well-planned strategies, Chieng Son is gradually sketching out a promising new economic picture, and will soon rise to become a bright spot on the tourism map of the border region within the Moc Chau National Tourist Area.
