This move aims to pave the way for the formation of a new government , following the presidential election in Belarus held on January 26, in which incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko won with 86.82% of the vote, preparing to begin his seventh presidential term since 1994.
According to the TASS news agency, Belarusian President-elect Alexander Lukashenko has signed a decree requiring the prime minister, deputy prime ministers, and ministers to continue performing their duties until a new cabinet is formed, in accordance with the country's Constitution.
Regarding the election results on January 26th, Igor Karpenko, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, stated that the commission had not received any complaints from citizens or observers about violations that could have affected the voting results.
Media reports indicate that, after taking office, Lukashenko will make his first state visit to Russia, where he is expected to hold talks with President Vladimir Putin.
