The move is aimed at paving the way for the formation of a new government , following the presidential election in Belarus held on January 26, with incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko winning with 86.82% of the vote, preparing to enter his 7th presidential term since 1994.

According to TASS news agency, Belarusian President-elect Alexander Lukashenko has signed a decree requiring the prime minister, deputy prime ministers and ministers to continue performing their duties until a new cabinet is formed, based on the country's Constitution.

Regarding the results of the January 26 election, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus Igor Karpenko made it clear that the agency did not receive any complaints from citizens and observers about violations that could affect the voting results.

Media reports said that after taking office, Mr. Lukashenko will make his first state visit to Russia, expected to hold talks with host country President Vladimir Putin.
