On the morning of May 28th, the delegation of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Council (representing Quang Ngai City) held a thematic meeting with voters regarding the implementation of policies and laws on tourism development in Quang Ngai province.
This is also seen as a dialogue between tourism businesses and relevant agencies and units to identify limitations, strengths, and weaknesses in order to achieve the goal of increasingly developing tourism, making a positive contribution to the province's development, and creating jobs for workers.
Notably, at the meeting with voters, Phan Tran Nguyen Minh Hoa, Deputy Director of My Khe Community Agriculture and Tourism Cooperative (Tinh Khe commune, Quang Ngai city), suggested that a legal framework and specialized resolutions are needed to create favorable conditions, rather than rigid regulations, for the development of rural tourism.
“In the coming time, homestays and other types of accommodation in rural areas and community tourism destinations will develop strongly. Therefore, it is essential to have specific mechanisms decided by the People's Council on piloting the use of agricultural and fishery land, land for planting trees, etc., for homestays and accommodation services to serve tourists, but without significantly impacting the change in land use purpose,” Mr. Hoa stated.
Regarding this matter, Nguyen Tien Dung, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province, said that the most difficult issue currently remains determining the mechanism to serve tourism development.
"Regarding provincial policies, the province cannot issue them independently. Therefore, concerning the proposal on mechanisms for rural tourism, the department has compiled and sent it to the province for relevant departments to study. Currently, resources for tourism development investment are limited, and the tourism management mechanism is unclear. The department also requests that the province pay attention and provide support," Mr. Dung said.
In addition, representatives from businesses and service establishments also raised concerns and made suggestions regarding various tourism-related issues such as infrastructure investment, transportation, and the development of unique tourism products.
The relevant departments and agencies directly addressed some of the voters' opinions and suggestions at the meeting. The People's Council delegation also received and relayed the legitimate concerns and aspirations of the voters to the competent authorities for consideration, resolution, and remediation.
