The Ministry of Transport has just announced that from 10:00 AM on May 19th, two component projects, the Nha Trang - Cam Lam section (49km long) and the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet section (101km long), belonging to the Project to build several sections of the North-South East Expressway in the 2017-2020 period, will officially be put into operation.

“Over the past period, the Project Management Boards, Investors, construction contractors, and consulting units, along with thousands of officials and employees, have demonstrated the highest sense of responsibility, strived to overcome many difficulties, mobilized all resources, and worked in shifts, day and night, on holidays and weekends, with the determination to bring the two projects into operation on May 19th.”

"This is a practical result to celebrate the 133rd anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth; in which the Nha Trang - Cam Lam Project has shortened the time to put it into operation by 3 months compared to the plan, upholding the commitment of the Investor (Son Hai Group Co., Ltd.) to the Prime Minister," the Ministry of Transport informed.

Regarding traffic management on the two expressways, based on the temporary traffic management plan approved by the Ministry of Transport, vehicles will be allowed to travel on the two expressway sections at a maximum speed of 80 km/h and a minimum speed of 60 km/h.

Event - Two more sections of the North-South Expressway officially opened to traffic from the morning of May 19th.

A section of the Nha Trang - Cam Lam project.

For the Nha Trang - Cam Lam project, vehicles are permitted to use the route from the beginning of the project (Km5+783) to the final interchange (Km52+892).

However, given that the next sections of the expressway at both ends of the project, Van Phong - Nha Trang and Cam Lam - Vinh Hao, are not yet open to traffic, the following temporary traffic diversion plan will be implemented on the expressway: In the North-South direction, the aforementioned vehicles will travel from National Highway 1 onto National Highway 27C, merge onto the expressway at the National Highway 27C interchange (at the beginning of the route at Km5+783) to the Cam Ranh interchange at Km52+892, connecting with National Highway 1 via National Highway 27B.

Initially, the project will be put into conditional operation on the main route and 2 out of 4 interchanges, including the initial interchange at Km5+783 connecting with National Highway 27C in Dien Tho commune, Dien Khanh district, Khanh Hoa province, and the final interchange at Km52+892 connecting with National Highway 27B in Cam Thinh Tay commune, Cam Ranh city, Khanh Hoa province.

A rest stop is planned at Km24 (located on both sides of the expressway). Currently, the Ministry of Transport is implementing procedures to select an investor according to regulations. For the time being, the investor will not collect tolls under the BOT contract on this route.

For the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet section of the project, vehicles will be allowed to use the route from the Vinh Hao interchange, connecting with the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay section of the project to Ho Chi Minh City.

The project has completed the commissioning of 5 out of 5 interchanges, including: Vinh Hao interchange at Km134+700, Cho Lau interchange at Km162+777.78, Dai Ninh interchange at Km178+655.22, Ma Lam interchange at Km208+701.74, and Phan Thiet interchange at Km234+617.56.

It is planned to construct rest stops at Km144+560 and Km205+092 in Binh Thuan province (located on both sides of the expressway). The Ministry of Transport is currently clearing the land and implementing procedures for selecting investors according to regulations. For the time being, traffic on the route will not be subject to tolls.

To ensure traffic safety during operation, the Ministry of Transport has issued a document requesting the People's Committees of Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, and Binh Thuan provinces to direct functional units and other relevant local units to strengthen forces to coordinate, guide, and remind traffic participants to comply with the traffic organization plan; and to strictly handle cases of violations that cause traffic safety hazards on the route .
