After securing a place in the final of the THACO Cup 2026 International Student Sports Tournament, Coach Mohd Roslan of the National University of Malaysia praised the University of Water Resources, the reigning champion of the Vietnam Student Sports Tournament.

In the first semi-final of the THACO Cup 2026 International Student Tournament, the National University of Malaysia narrowly defeated Svay Rieng University (Cambodia) 1-0 in a tense match. The decisive goal came in the final seconds after a mistake by the Cambodian goalkeeper. Coach Mohd Roslan admitted that the opponent caused many difficulties, even hitting the crossbar twice. However, patience and disciplined play helped his team withstand the pressure.

"We believe that with patience, we can achieve something," coach Mohd Roslan shared after the match. He also praised his players for maintaining focus from start to finish, despite playing away from home.

According to the coach, the decisive goal in the final minutes of the match was not due to luck but rather to meticulous tactical preparation, combined with discipline and perseverance. He also revealed that he had a plan for the penalty shootout, including personnel changes at the end of the match, but the team settled the game in regular time.

National University needs a bit of luck to beat Svay Rieng University.

Meanwhile, the Water Resources University convincingly defeated Nha Trang University despite facing considerable difficulties.

Coach Mohd Roslan commented: "The Water Resources University team possesses a highly organized playing style, combining discipline with effective attacking capabilities. This team will pose a significant challenge to any opponent. While I also have great respect for Nha Trang University, a team with strong defense and disciplined play, I think the Water Resources University team still has more experience."

The final match between the National University of Malaysia and the University of Water Resources promises to be very exciting.
