The "closing the deal" started off poorly.

The first Vietnamese film to use AI technology to replace a lead actor was not well-received by audiences, with its opening weekend box office falling short of expectations.

Statistics from the independent box office website Box Office Vietnam (with potential errors) show that during the three-day weekend (August 8-10), the film "Chốt đơn" (The Final Order) only grossed over 2.3 billion VND with 25,341 tickets sold across 1,763 screenings.

As of 8:30 AM on August 11th, the film had only grossed nearly 2.8 billion VND. This is also one of the Vietnamese films with the lowest opening weekend in 2025.

The reason why "Chốt đơn" (The Final Deal) didn't receive audience support is because after its release, the film received many mixed reviews. Besides praise for the performances of actors Hong Dao and Quyen Linh, the acting of the AI-played character was criticized as rather rough, stiff, and lacking in expressive range, especially in emotionally intense scenes.

Over the past week, the film "Bring My Mother Abandoned" maintained its number one position on the box office charts. In the three-day weekend, the film grossed over 27.5 billion VND with 288,799 tickets sold and 9,041 screenings. The film currently has a total revenue of over 136 billion VND.

The AI-generated character design for the main character in "The Deal" has received mixed reviews.

Conan Movie 28: The Afterimage of the One-Eyed Man continues its box office appeal. In its third week in theaters, the film maintained its number 2 position with nearly 9.2 billion VND in revenue. The film has now reached a total revenue of over 164 billion VND. With this upward trend, the film is on track to surpass Doraemon 2025: Nobita and the Adventure into the World in the Picture Book to become the highest-grossing anime (animated film based on Japanese manga) in Vietnam.

Last week, the third spot on the box office chart went to "My Daddy's Little Zombie," grossing over 7.5 billion won. This South Korean family comedy received many positive reviews and was well-received by a wide audience.

This week, no new Vietnamese films were released at the box office. However, the foreign films are also worth noting.

Demon Slayer: Infinite Castle is predicted to perform well at the box office. Despite only having early screenings since August 11th, the film has already garnered very high pre-order revenue, nearly 9.6 billion VND.

In addition, other notable works include: The Super Weird Friday, Sticky, The Anonymous 2, and I'm Only Like You Because I Have a Disease .
