'The dinosaur' of Hon Nua Island attracts tourists.

If you happen to pass through Ca Pass (National Highway 1, spanning two provinces, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa ), you can easily spot Hon Nua, a small, pristine island about 1 nautical mile from the shore.

Hon Nua Island is located about 35km south of Tuy Hoa city center. The seawater here is crystal clear like emeralds, and on sunny days you can see all the way to the bottom.

The island also features massive cliffs with surfaces crisscrossed with horizontal and vertical cuts, creating a mysterious atmosphere.

At the summit of Hon Nua Island stands a striking red lighthouse. According to the South Central Maritime Safety Company, the Hon Nua lighthouse was built in 2002 and serves as a navigational beacon for the Vung Ro estuary, helping ships operating in the waters of Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces to orient themselves and determine their way in and out of Vung Ro.

Although no professional tourism activities have been organized on Hon Nua Island yet, its pristine, romantic, and completely natural beauty has attracted many visitors who rent boats and canoes to come here to take photos and immerse themselves in the crystal-clear waters.

"The feeling of putting your face in the cool seawater, looking down to the bottom with its multi-layered coral reefs, is absolutely wonderful," expressed Ms. Le Thi Bich Tuyen (38 years old, a tourist from Dong Nai).

Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Minh Hieu (29 years old, a tourist from Nha Trang) shared: "I hope that in the near future, the local government will develop tourism on this island in a rich and unique way."

Calling for investment in tourism development on Hon Nua Island.

In early March 2024, the People's Committee of Phu Yen province organized a conference to promote and attract investment in 33 projects in the South Phu Yen Economic Zone and 37 other projects.

In the field of trade, tourism, and services, there are 5 projects, including one in which Phu Yen is calling for investment to develop Hon Nua into a high-end resort.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Hoa town, said that the potential for tourism development in Hon Nua is very large.

"Currently, the local authorities are actively preserving the ecosystem on Hon Nua Island to find opportunities to promote the tourism values ​​of this island," Mr. Hong said.
