Ta Dung National Park in Lam Dong province is a shining example of forest development linked to biodiversity conservation. Facing challenges from climate change, forest fires, and encroachment on forest land, the Park Management Board, along with organizations and local people, is implementing many comprehensive solutions to "reforest" and expand the natural area...

Ta Dung National Park has a total natural area of approximately 21,000 hectares, with a forest cover rate of up to 85% of the core area, including over 48% primary forest and over 36% secondary forest of various types. It is a geographical and biological intersection between the Southern Central Highlands and the Southeastern region of Vietnam, and holds significant value in the conservation of endemic genetic resources and the protection of the ecological environment.

Over the years, alongside forest management and protection, the Ta Dung National Park Management Board has also strived to develop the forest and achieved many positive results. From 2014 to the present, the unit has planted nearly 620 hectares with more than one million trees. To achieve this result, in addition to the efforts of the Park Management Board, there has been the joint effort and contribution of organizations and people living in the buffer zone. Village elder K'Ho, from Ta Dung commune, said that besides coordinating forest management and protection, he and the people in his village actively plant trees and reforest every year.

In 2024 alone, in response to the Prime Minister 's "Planting One Billion Trees in the 2021-2025 Period" project, the Park Management Board, in coordination with local people, planted 16,500 scattered trees in areas designated for forest enrichment in degraded forest areas, around the Management Board's headquarters, along National Highway 28, and supported tree planting at public works, roads, and schools in the buffer zone villages and hamlets of the Park. It is expected that by the end of August 2025, the unit will have completed planting an additional 15,000 trees.

Annually, the Park Management Board proactively develops a plan for disseminating information through various rich and diverse forms, while also establishing Green Clubs for students in junior high schools in the buffer zone. They integrate training to raise awareness of forest care and protection among the local population during community meetings, especially for those living near the forest and ethnic minorities, encouraging their participation in forest protection and development. In addition, the Park Management Board strengthens connections and collaborations with organizations and individuals to receive support in the form of seedlings and implement reforestation programs.

According to Nguyen Sieu Hanh, General Director of JOY FOUNDATION Social Limited Company: “When we started the survey in 2023, we sensed the readiness of the leadership team and all the staff, managers, and forest protectors here to cooperate, share information transparently, and genuinely want to create sustainable changes for the forest. Besides, Ta Dung is one of the areas with great potential for ecotourism. I believe that protecting the forest here is not just an environmental issue, but also a part of the local economic development in the future.”

Mr. Nguyen Duy Minh, General Director of InterLOG International Logistics Joint Stock Company, said that the company organized a running and walking program to spread the spirit of green living and sustainable development. With a total distance of nearly 25,000 km recorded, the program will contribute to the greening of Vietnam by planting 3,000 trees. And the first 3,000 trees have officially sprouted in Ta Dung National Park.

According to Khương Thanh Long, Director of the Ta Dung National Park Management Board, in addition to the precious biodiversity bestowed by nature, the park's lush greenery is also the result of the persistent efforts and collaboration between the Management Board and organizations and people in the buffer zone in "reforestation" to restore degraded forest areas and previously encroached forest patches, filling gaps, developing forests, increasing forest cover, and creating a national park ecosystem over the past period.
