New trees have recently been planted along Hung Vuong Avenue (Hac Thanh Ward).
These days, along the central thoroughfares of Hac Thanh ward such as Le Loi Avenue, Hung Vuong Avenue; and streets like Ba Trieu, Bui Khac Nhat, Tran Phu, Quang Trung, Lac Long Quan, Vo Nguyen Giap, Trinh Kiem..., the difference is easily noticeable. Straight-trunked, compact-canopied Taiwanese almond trees, 5-6 meters tall, are planted in neat rows. The median strips are lined with large, straight-trunked date palms, creating a striking landscape feature...
The trees are gradually taking root, bringing a new splash of greenery to the busy streets. Many residents expressed their excitement at this refreshing change. “Previously, Hung Vuong Boulevard had very few shade trees. Now, with the addition of more trees, the street looks much nicer. With the trees taking root and thriving, the air will surely be cooler and more pleasant,” shared Mr. Vu Dai Duong, from Binh Minh Street, Hac Thanh Ward.
According to Mr. Hoang Cao Thang, Director of the Public Service Center of Hac Thanh Ward, the unit assigned to implement the greening project, developing green spaces is one of the important tasks in the ward's urban beautification strategy. “To build Hac Thanh Ward in the direction of ‘bright, green, clean, and beautiful,’ planting new trees and adding more trees plays a crucial role. Therefore, in this implementation phase, the ward's goal is to green streets with remaining vacant land, while also adding trees in areas with low tree density to create a uniform landscape. The main tree species planted are the Taiwanese Terminalia and date palm – types of trees suitable for urban areas because they have many advantages such as good vitality, drought resistance, few pests and diseases, and reduced risk of breakage during the rainy season and storms,” Mr. Thang shared.
According to the plan, each Taiwanese Terminalia catappa tree planted will have a trunk diameter of 10-15cm and a height of approximately 5-6m, spaced 8-10m apart. Date palms will have a trunk diameter of 35-40cm... The project has a total investment of over 3 billion VND, of which over 2 billion VND comes from the state budget, and the remainder is mobilized from social sources. To date, the project has been implemented to about 80%, and the ward is focusing on urging the relevant units to expedite the remaining work, striving to complete it before April 30, 2026.
In addition, the ward organized a review, supplementary planting, and replacement of trees in residential areas, industrial zones, agencies, schools, hospitals, historical sites, scenic spots, around houses, gardens, roadsides, riverbanks, and canal banks. It mobilized the participation of organizations, individuals, and businesses in planting and caring for trees, contributing to ensuring the percentage of public green space by 2026.
In reality, along with rapid urbanization, green spaces in many central areas are gradually shrinking. Increasing urban green areas is extremely important for environmental protection. Through concrete actions in Hac Thanh ward and the collective efforts of the community, the newly planted trees along streets, urban areas, parks, and flower gardens are expected to significantly improve the green spaces, landscapes, and urban aesthetics.
