Who was the top student in the 10th grade at the Foreign Language Specialized High School in 2024?

"Lâm Nhi is a petite, gentle, diligent, and hardworking girl. The teachers weren't too surprised by her results because she's always been an all-around star at the school since the beginning," Ms. Nguyen Huyen Trang, Principal of the Foreign Language Secondary School, proudly shared with a reporter from Dan Viet newspaper about her young student Bui Hoang Lam Nhi, a former student of class 9A1.

Ms. Trang stated that in the recent entrance exam for the 10th grade at the Specialized High School for Foreign Languages, affiliated with the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Lam Nhi excelled and became the top scorer. She achieved 8.35 points in her specialized subject, 8 points in Mathematics and Natural Sciences , and 7.75 points in Literature and Social Sciences. Lam Nhi's total score was 32.45, the highest among the 1,491 candidates.

Lam Nhi was selected for the scholarship. 20 out of 210 English-specialized students received this scholarship.

"This year, the school has 77 students admitted to the 10th grade of the Foreign Language Specialized High School. Of those, the English specialization alone accounts for 16 out of 20 scholarships," Ms. Trang proudly shared.

Last May, Lam Nhi was also honored by her school for winning first prize in the city-level English competition for 9th-grade students. She has also achieved many accomplishments in English since she was a child.

It is known that Lam Nhi's parents chose the name from the famous tiger in Thu Le Park that was rescued from Thua Thien - Hue . Her parents hoped their daughter would be strong and resilient, just like the name they gave her.

Earlier, on the afternoon of June 14th, the Foreign Language Specialized High School under the University of Foreign Languages ​​officially announced the entrance exam scores for 10th grade in the 2024-2025 school year.

Mr. Nguyen Phu Chien, Principal of the Foreign Language Specialized High School, assessed: "This is the first year that we are not recruiting for the non-specialized program, and the quota for the specialized program has increased. In general, the cut-off scores (for the specialized program) are lower than last year."

Accordingly, French had the highest cutoff score this year, with 25.12 points for the specialized program and 30.95 points for the scholarship program. Japanese and English had a common cutoff score of 25 points. The lowest was Korean with 23.14 points.
