According to the BBC , France had the most players in the past year. In total, the players on the "Les Bleus" squad participated in 1,341 matches at club and international level last season, equivalent to 98,895 minutes of playing time.
Crystal Palace's center-back Maxence Lacroix is the player with the most starts, with 58 games, and also leads in minutes played with 5,009 minutes. However, the 26-year-old is predicted to only play a reserve role in Didier Deschamps' squad.
Bayern Munich striker Michael Olise is the player with the most appearances for the French national team, with 65 caps. Despite coming on as a substitute 12 times, the former Crystal Palace star still accumulated 4,942 minutes of playing time this season.
Another factor that makes the French team's fitness a concern is that 11 of their players participated in last summer's FIFA Club World Cup. This number is only less than Germany 's (12 players).
Among the teams with the highest total playing time, Portugal ranks second with 1,299 matches and 96,405 minutes played. Midfielder Vitinha was the most active player for the "European Brazil," appearing in 66 matches during PSG's run to the FIFA Club World Cup final and UEFA Champions League victory.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo also demonstrated impressive physical fitness, starting all 44 matches for Al Nassr and the Portuguese national team. At 41 years old, CR7 remains the most exciting star for the Iberian team at the 2026 World Cup.
Third on the list is England. Although England's players have played a total of 1,304 matches, more than Portugal, their number of starts is lower. Captain Harry Kane has played 63 matches for Bayern Munich and England, raising concerns about his ability to maintain fitness as he approaches 33.
With a packed schedule stretching throughout the season, physical fitness could become a decisive factor in the success or failure of title contenders at the 2026 World Cup.
