Previously, at approximately 3:30 PM on April 4, 2025, Ms. LTT (born in 1960, residing in Xuan Khanh Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) reported the loss of assets including cash and gold, with an estimated total value of approximately 3 billion VND, at house number 328 Tam Vu Street, Hung Loi Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City.
Through investigative measures, the police quickly identified and summoned the suspected individual, Nguyen Tan Dat (born in 1981, residing in Xuan Thang commune, Thoi Lai district, Can Tho city). During questioning, Dat admitted to breaking into Ms. LTT's house to steal property.
During the search of Nguyen Tan Dat's residence, the Police Investigation Agency seized over 1.4 billion VND in cash, 5 plain gold rings, 2 gold rings, and many other related items.
The Investigation Police Department of Can Tho City Police has issued an emergency detention order and placed Nguyen Tan Dat under temporary criminal detention for further investigation and clarification of the case in accordance with the law.
The Can Tho City Police Department advises citizens to raise their awareness and strengthen measures to protect their property, especially valuable assets such as money, gold, and silver. This is particularly important during holidays and long vacation periods for workers.
