Announcing Vietnam Card Day 2024

This morning (September 26), the Organizing Committee of Vietnam Card Day officially announced the event of Vietnam Card Day 2024. This is an annual event with the content direction of the State Bank, organized by Tien Phong Newspaper and Vietnam National Payment Joint Stock Company (NAPAS). The event of Vietnam Card Day 2024 is organized with the theme "Live Chill - Pay Quality".

Mr. Phung Cong Suong, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong newspaper, delivered the opening speech at the event.

At the Vietnam Card Day 2024 event, the concept of Open Banking was mentioned in the context of the banking industry facing a comprehensive digital revolution, banks sharing data with third parties to bring new and superior experiences to customers. The open banking trend is one of the main trends and driving forces for change, promising to create a breakthrough in the provision of banking products and services.

Vietnam Card Day 2024 targets students and young families aged 15-40, who need to use digital payment methods, online payments through internet banking, mobile banking services of banks as well as banking services integrated on third-party platforms such as online public service platforms, e-commerce, online booking, travel services, etc.

The future trend of banking is digital technology with applications in payment methods such as Tap to Pay, Tap to Phone, QR code payment, e-wallet, mobile payment... and digital technologies such as electronic customer identification (eKYC),...

Known as “digital natives”, young consumers are the ones who are ready to access digital payment and banking experiences and choose the methods that suit them.

Within the framework of Vietnam Card Day 2024, there will be 6 main activities: press conference to announce the series of events on September 26; Megasale Online Campaign (September 30 - October 26); Specialized seminar on the day (October 2); Career orientation seminar at the National Economics University (October 4); Vietnam Card Day event 2024 - Wave Festival at Bach Khoa Stadium (October 5-6).

During the press conference, the Organizing Committee announced Miss Vietnam 2020 Do Thi Ha as the Brand Ambassador of Vietnam Card Day 2024.

Speaking at the press conference to announce Vietnam Card Day 2024, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Director of the Payment Department (SBV) commented: "Credit institutions are tending to shift from the traditional banking model to the open banking model, enhancing connectivity and technology integration in many fields, becoming a bridge for information exchange between banks and businesses, supporting the implementation of consumer payment activities or production and business with the goal of customer-centricity, more choices, better personalized services but still ensuring safety and security, thereby contributing to popularizing non-cash payments to people and businesses".

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan also believes that the series of events of Vietnam Card Day 2024 will guide Vietnamese youth and banks to have a direct and diverse playground to approach and provide practical experiences about modern payment methods, approaching the world 's technological level that are being introduced by banks, gradually becoming popular in Vietnam such as contactless chip card payments, short-range wireless payments - NFC (Near-Field Communications), online and offline payments at points of sale via QR codes, online payments for digital services, e-commerce via Mobile banking applications, ... combined with solutions and support services such as secure biometric authentication, card information encryption (tokenization), safe and convenient electronic identification (eKYC).
