Product codes and input invoices are an inevitable trend, helping to protect legitimate rights, prevent legal risks and demonstrate professionalism and transparency in business activities, especially from January 1, 2026, when implementing the form of tax declaration.
Product code: authenticate the origin of the goods
Dong Phu Cashew Nuts Company Limited (in Nghia Trung Commune, Dong Nai Province) has been producing salted roasted cashews for quite a long time. Previously, the company's cashew products were sold around the province. Recently, the products have been present in many domestic and foreign markets. Therefore, the company has registered codes and barcodes for its products; invested in printing stamps, standardizing packaging, and attaching QR codes to each product box.
This not only protects the brand but also helps the unit better manage the production and distribution stages; it is a mandatory condition for goods to be brought to supermarkets and e-commerce platforms, as well as a stepping stone to expand the consumer market.
Mr. Le Van Lam, Dong Phu Cashew Company Limited shared: "When we implement QR codes, customers can trace the origin of the goods, know the company's address, and from there can introduce products to each other; at the same time, they can quickly trace the origin, through which they know the origin of the product, other information about nutrition, about ingredients suitable for customer requirements".
Not only businesses and small production facilities but also business households today are interested in product codes for goods.
As a trader at a traditional market, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue , a trader at Phu Rieng Trade Center (Phu Rieng Commune, Dong Nai Province) said: When sellers pay attention to product codes, it can help buyers easily check information about origin, expiry date, quality standards, creating transparency and ensuring the rights of both sellers and buyers. Therefore, she always imports goods with product codes, because this is the "key" to help consumers check product information, production process, expiry date, etc.
Ms. Hue confided: “When imported goods have product codes, customers will increase their trust, and it will also help prevent counterfeit and fake goods. Therefore, we always import goods with clear product codes.”
According to traders, in previous years, the situation of goods of unknown origin directly affected genuine traders, so seemingly simple information of product codes became an "identification card" for goods, creating trust for consumers.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Khuyen, a trader at Bu Nho Trade Center (Phu Rieng Commune, Dong Nai Province) said: "Product codes are very good for both sellers and consumers. Firstly, with a product code, we know the origin of the product. Secondly, it creates safety for consumers when scanning the code to see information, they will know the origin of the goods, avoiding counterfeit goods."
“Business and sales must be invoiced, that is the regulation, invoices and documents must be complete. This is the basis for business households as well as enterprises to account for inputs and especially to record, evaluate and determine the origin of goods to ensure payment as well as accounting for documents and accounting books. Regarding the tax sector, from January 1, 2026, the tax will be changed from lump-sum tax to declared tax payment, all goods purchased and sold must be properly invoiced and documented according to the provisions of law.”

Input invoices: important legal basis
In the past, Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc, who runs a grocery store at Bu Nho Commercial Center, had encountered problems when customers complained about the quality of some items, but she could not trace the origin because the seller did not provide an invoice. From that incident, Ms. Ngoc changed her habit of importing goods with invoices, thanks to which she could prove the legality of the goods when the authorities inspected.
“Input invoices are important documents that help businesses prove the origin of goods and fulfill tax obligations in accordance with regulations. This is a “shield” to protect business people. When each transaction has clear documents, business people are protected from legal and financial risks; at the same time, creating a transparent business foundation” - Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc shared more.
As a stationery business, Thien Chi Bookstore (in Phuoc Binh ward, Dong Nai province) is interested in input invoices for all types of goods.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thien Chi, bookstore owner, said: Input invoices are not only important documents in tax management but also transparently record costs and clearly manage output and input.
"The items we import have input invoices. If there are no invoices, we have to make an accurate list in the accounting software and then re-account them on that software," said Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thien Chi.
According to the tax sector, in business activities, input invoices are not only documents in tax management but also an important legal basis to protect the rights of business households. When fully implementing regulations on invoices, business households and individual businesses will feel secure in buying and selling activities, contributing to building a healthy and transparent market. Implementing invoices is not only an obligation but also a right of business households, ensuring transparency in commercial activities and avoiding risks when applying the tax management model from January 1, 2026.
In the context, consumers are not only concerned about product prices but also pay attention to clear origin; complying with quality regulations, product codes and the use of input invoices not only help businesses operate transparently, affirm their reputation, production units, and protect their brands, but also serve as a foundation for convenient tax declaration. Product codes and input invoices are also the basis for customers to trust the quality and origin of goods; a necessary condition for businesses to develop sustainably.
