Supporting workers suffering from serious illnesses.
In the Binh Duong area, Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. has two factories with approximately 7,000 workers, earning an average income of 8-12 million VND per month. Although their basic living conditions are stable, some workers unfortunately suffer from serious illnesses or face difficult circumstances.
Ms. TTTQ (born in 2004, from Can Tho ) started working at the Di An factory of Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. in October 2023. In March 2026, she discovered a large tumor in her right shoulder blade, her shoulder bone was eroded and fractured, and she had to be hospitalized for chemotherapy.
According to the company's trade union, Ms. Q comes from a difficult background, having lived with her maternal grandparents since childhood. Later, she moved to Ho Chi Minh City to work, helping to support her grandparents and younger siblings. "The treatment costs have exceeded the family's ability to pay. Ms. Q herself is in dire straits and desperately needs the support of all the company's employees," said Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet Nhung, Chairwoman of the company's trade union.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet Nhung, after the grassroots trade union issued a message of support, it received much assistance from union members and employees working in the company. After a period of fundraising, all employees donated 230 million VND to support Ms. TTTQ. Representatives of the grassroots trade union went to her residence to hand over the entire amount to Ms. Q.
Working at a company's factory in Di An ward, Ms. VTNX (55 years old, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) recently suffered from several illnesses that made life difficult. “I have worked at the company for 16 years. In recent years, I have suffered from many illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, bone and joint problems, eye problems, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Fortunately, the grassroots trade union has petitioned the company to arrange suitable work for me so that I can earn an income to cover my living expenses. Recently, I also received a gift from the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union. This gift helps to encourage me to continue striving and improving my life,” Ms. VTNX shared.
Support for workers injured in workplace accidents.
Besides caring for workers suffering from serious illnesses, trade unions at all levels regularly provide support to workers who unfortunately suffer work-related accidents. Mr. Vo Trung Tinh (38 years old, working at a company in Hoa Loi ward) is one of the workers who receives care from the trade union.
Mr. Vo Trung Tinh shared that during his work, in 2019, he unfortunately suffered a work accident resulting in 72% disability. After the accident, mobility became difficult, and his life became dependent on family members. Fortunately, Mr. Tinh always received encouragement and support from his colleagues and the Trade Union. At the factory, the Trade Union petitioned the company to arrange work suitable for Mr. Tinh's health. During holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), the Trade Union always gave gifts and provided both material and spiritual support.
“I had an accident, lost my ability to work, had the upper third of my right femur amputated, my right pelvis is deformed, and I have hip osteoarthritis. I frequently experience pain when the weather changes. Thanks to the support of the Trade Union, I have gradually strived to improve my life. Recently, leaders from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor visited me at my rented room to offer encouragement. I received a gift of 5 million VND in cash and 500,000 VND in other gifts. I am very happy and grateful. This money helps my family cover expenses. I am truly thankful to the Trade Union organization,” Mr. Tinh shared.
Similarly, Mr. Huynh Thanh Sang (35 years old, working at a company in Binh Duong ward) also unfortunately suffered a work accident that affected 60% of his health. “My work accident has plunged my family into a prolonged crisis. Medical expenses are beyond our means. As the main breadwinner, I had to temporarily stop working due to the accident, so my family lost their source of income. These difficulties have led to debt and prolonged financial pressure. Fortunately, I have always received encouragement from the Trade Union officials. Recently, I received a visit from the leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, who provided a gift worth 5.5 million VND. I don't know what more to say except thank you to the Trade Union for always being there for the workers,” Mr. Sang said.
