Vietnamese technology stands shoulder to shoulder to reach the world.

The world has experienced "Made in Vietnam" 5G mobile network technology. This seemingly impossible feat took place at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, Spain, in late February 2024, when Viettel Group participated for the seventh time in this most important and largest global mobile event.

The 5G chipset and Vi An – a human AI – unveiled here are two of the highlights among the 17 "Made by Viettel" technology solutions and products that Viettel introduced at MWC 2024.

Viettel – a state-owned enterprise – has been quick to expand its reach globally. Seventeen years after its establishment (June 1989), in early 2006, Viettel decided to invest abroad, despite facing numerous difficulties in its domestic production and business operations. By 2018, Viettel was operating in 10 countries across Asia, Africa, and South America. In 2022, Viettel's overseas investments achieved nearly $3 billion in service revenue (over 70,000 billion VND) for the first time – equivalent to domestic telecommunications revenue, contributing 50% of the group's total telecommunications service revenue.

In August 2023, Viettel was once again named in the Top 100 most valuable brands in Vietnam by Brand Finance. Valued at nearly $9 billion, Viettel continued to be the most valuable brand in Vietnam and the most valuable telecommunications brand in Southeast Asia, thanks to its successful expansion into international markets.

No one can deny the quick wit and technological talent of the Vietnamese people. While countless small businesses and individuals from Vietnam have been quietly making their mark on the global technology market, Vietnamese "tech giants" like Viettel, FPT, CMC , VNPT, Vingroup, etc., have created significant Vietnamese imprints on the world technology map. It can be said that Vietnam is an emerging player in the global technology arena.

After more than two decades of accumulating experience in the global market, this corporation has built deep expertise in specialized fields with broad growth potential in the future. And in the last three years, they have doubled their growth to reach $1 billion. Of that, 21% comes from the automotive software and manufacturing sector, 11% from finance and banking, and 11% from energy…

FPT possesses an "absolute weapon," or perhaps a "secret weapon," in its domestic and international markets: a fiery spirit and ambition that permeates from the leadership to every sales employee, as shared by Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Group. Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and CEO of Viettel, emphasized: "For a product to make a name for itself abroad, the ambition must be high, the confidence must be great, and there must be enough pride."

Of course, for Vietnamese technology companies to expand internationally without going it alone, in addition to the support from their "compatriots," they need a driving force to rely on. This requires a national policy for sustainable development and high integration.
