Working with the association helps me change myself.

Since 2020, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tu (63 years old), residing in Quarter 4, Ward 2, Tay Ninh City, has been involved in the Women's Union activities of the ward. Later, she was elected as the head of the Women's Union branch in Quarter 4.

According to Ms. Phan Thi Bich Thao, President of the Women's Union of Ward 2: "Although she hasn't been involved in the union's work for long, Ms. Tu always strives in union activities to take good care of members and encourages women to participate in public service activities in the ward."

For nearly five years, Ms. Tu has actively coordinated and successfully implemented the Association's emulation movements and campaigns, yielding many practical results. She has disseminated the Party, State, and Association's policies and guidelines to members; promoted COVID-19 prevention and control; ensured food safety; promoted the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign; and encouraged the Month of Action for the Environment… through branch/group meetings and via the Zalo social network, reaching over 5,700 members and women.

In the neighborhood, Mrs. Tu established and maintained a piggy bank savings model called "Buying Health Insurance" for members in difficult circumstances. To date, the model has purchased 80 health insurance cards with a total value of nearly 80 million VND. She mobilizes gifts for women on holidays and festivals; encourages female members to participate in cultural, artistic, and sports activities, creating a healthy environment for them such as the Tai Chi Club, the "3 Haves, 3 Knows" program, etc.

Ms. Tu also actively mobilized members, women, and residents to participate in the "Building a Family with 5 No's and 3 Cleanliness Standards" campaign, linked to the " Tay Ninh Joins Hands to Build New Rural Areas and Smart Cities" emulation movement in the neighborhood. Annually, over 85% of member and official households met all 8 criteria. For those who did not meet the criteria, Ms. Tu investigated and proposed support, helping 25 households complete the criteria. In the neighborhood, the branch also maintained a "Trusted Address" model, where Ms. Tu provided legal advice and support in 15 cases of domestic conflict and violence.

Previously, Mrs. Tu worked as a kindergarten teacher, but after retiring, she mostly stayed home and didn't have many opportunities to interact with others. Therefore, community activities opened up a new source of joy for her. For her, the greatest joy was meeting other women and participating together in activities such as cleaning up and protecting the environment in the neighborhood, and planting trees in remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh.

Ms. Tu said: "Participating in the Women's Association has allowed me to meet many people, making my life less restrictive and broadening my horizons. I can further develop myself by gaining more knowledge and doing things I didn't have the opportunity to do before." According to Ms. Tu, due to family circumstances, she can only contribute by mobilizing people to help those in difficult situations or by spending time visiting and encouraging other women. But even that much makes her happy because of the meaning her work brings.

Given its urban characteristics and the fact that most residents are commuters, the women's association often gathers older members to participate in activities. In return, the women are very enthusiastic about these small activities. "Older people enjoy going out and participating in activities, so each time we organize an event, it usually attracts many participants. The association's work contributes to creating a healthy and useful playground for women, helping to keep the neighborhood greener, cleaner, and more beautiful," said Mrs. Tu.

Although she hasn't been involved in the association for long, thanks to her enthusiasm, Ms. Tu has earned the trust of the members and leaders of the association in the ward due to her positive contributions.
