Courtois breaks Champions League record.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made a significant impact in the Champions League after Real Madrid's 3-0 victory over Man City in the round of 16 on the morning of March 12th.

In the 20th minute at the Bernabeu, Courtois delivered an accurate long pass from his own half, sending the ball past the opposing defense to find Federico Valverde on the right wing.

The Uruguayan midfielder controlled the ball neatly, beat Gianluigi Donnarumma before finishing to open the scoring for Real Madrid. Not stopping there, Valverde went on to score two more goals in the remainder of the match, helping the Spanish giants gain a crucial advantage ahead of the second leg in England.

This moment helped Courtois increase his total number of assists in the Champions League to 3, officially making him the goalkeeper with the most assists in the history of the tournament. Previously, he also contributed with an assist for Kylian Mbappe in the qualifying round match against Kairat.

While playing for Chelsea, Courtois had another assist in a Champions League match against Qarabag in 2017.

With this achievement, the Belgian goalkeeper surpassed two former legends who previously held the record: Jose Francisco Molina, who had 2 assists for Deportivo La Coruña in the 2003/04 season, and German legend Oliver Kahn, who also had 2 assists in his Champions League career.

Notably, Courtois is also the only goalkeeper since Molina to have more than one assist in a single Champions League season. Thanks to his impressive contributions, Courtois continues to solidify his position as one of the world's top goalkeepers.
