On June 2, the City Statistics Office announced that the consumer price index (CPI) in the city in May 2025 increased by 0.73% compared to the previous month and increased by 2.76% compared to the same period in 2024. The average CPI in the first 5 months of 2025 increased by 2.82% compared to the same period in 2024.

In the 0.73% increase in CPI in May 2025, 8/11 groups of goods and services had price indexes that increased; 2/11 groups of goods had price indexes that decreased; 1/11 groups of goods remained unchanged. Groups of goods with increases compared to the previous month included: housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased by 2.55%; other goods and services increased by 0.72%; food and catering services increased by 0.55%; culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.45%; household equipment and appliances increased by 0.38%; beverages and tobacco increased by 0.37%; clothing, footwear and hats increased by 0.32%; medicine and medical services increased by 0.15%.

The commodity groups with a decrease compared to the previous month include: the transportation group decreased by 0.72%; the post and telecommunications group increased by 0.08%. Theeducation group remained unchanged. The price of construction materials increased due to the scarcity of sand supply, leading to a sharp increase in sand prices; in addition, the price of rental housing, food services outside the home, tourism services and jewelry prices also increased, which were the main reasons for the CPI in May increasing by 0.73% compared to the previous month.
