ANTD.VN - The Hanoi Tax Department advises taxpayers to carefully check the content of tax payment notices, penalty decisions, etc., and not to rush into following the instructions in the messages or notices.

The Hanoi City Tax Department has issued a warning about impersonation of tax authorities for fraudulent purposes.

Accordingly, the Hanoi Tax Department stated that recently, there has been an increasing trend and frequency of reports of individuals impersonating state officials and employees, forging notices, and impersonating the Tax Authority with the aim of defrauding and extorting money from taxpayers.

The number of cases of impersonating tax authorities is increasing (Illustrative image).

The Hanoi Tax Department affirms that it only authorizes the People's Committees of wards, communes, and towns to collect non-agricultural land use tax from households and individuals, and authorizes the Hanoi Post Office to collect tax from business households in the districts of Thanh Tri, Dong Anh, Son Tay, Thanh Oai-Chuong My, Phuc Tho, and Phu Xuyen. The authorized collection agency will issue receipts and collection documents to taxpayers in accordance with regulations.

Therefore, the Hanoi Tax Department advises taxpayers, upon receiving tax payment notices, penalty decisions, etc., to carefully check the content and not rush to reply or act on the instructions in the messages or notices.

To avoid fraud when conducting transactions with tax authorities or carrying out tax-related tasks, taxpayers can contact the designated contact person at the Tax Department or Tax Branch in their area for assistance via the phone number published on the Hanoi City Tax Department's website.

In cases where taxpayers receive messages on social media platforms and calls that appear to be fraudulent, they should retain evidence such as messages or call recordings, report it to the telecommunications company managing their subscription to request action, and simultaneously provide the available evidence to the relevant authorities of the Ministry of Public Security and the nearest tax office to request that the perpetrators' illegal activities be handled according to the law.
