Beneath the vast green canopy of the forest, amidst towering mountains, perpetually shrouded in clouds and mist, the people of various ethnic groups live in close harmony with nature and preserve many unique customs and beliefs.
Nestled along the forests, rivers, and streams, the people live in small stilt houses consisting of three or four rooms, forming a vil (village). All community activities are managed by a leader called the xuất vil (village chief or elder).
When the village has an important occasion such as a festival or event, the village elder will be the highest-ranking representative to perform rituals to the ancestors and deities through traditional ceremonies.
