The 2nd Vietnam Mold Making Competition, 2025, is a highly academic and practical technical and creative playground for students from technical universities and colleges nationwide.
The competition aims to ignite the passion and creative spirit of young Vietnamese engineers; connect schools, businesses, and experts, creating a practical learning environment that meets industry standards; contribute to the training and development of high-quality technical human resources for Vietnam's supporting industries; and promote localization, technological innovation, and international integration in the field of mold making.
This year, the competition has been upgraded in scale and professional depth compared to the first season. While in 2024 students only participated in 3D mold design, in 2025, teams will directly machine and fabricate molds and produce complete products. This is a practical challenge that helps students not only demonstrate their technical thinking but also hone their practical skills, process management, and problem-solving abilities in manufacturing.

This year, the competition is co-organized by the School of Mechanical Engineering ( Hanoi University of Science and Technology) with the Japan-Vietnam Mold Club (JVMC) and the Vietnam Association of Supporting Industries (VASI).
The competition brought together 10 teams from 7 leading universities and technical colleges in Vietnam, including: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Technology ( Da Nang University), Hanoi University of Industry, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, University of Transport Technology, Ly Thai To College, and Hanoi University of Mining and Geology.
Teams will compete in the following categories: plastic injection mold design, metal stamping mold design, pressure die casting mold design, CNC machining programming, and finished product inspection and evaluation.
Since 2013, the Vietnam-Japan Mold Making Club (JVMC) has been an important bridge between businesses, schools, and technical organizations in both countries. Through training programs, workshops, and technical exchanges, JVMC has contributed to the dissemination of advanced Japanese mold making technology in Vietnam, while supporting Vietnamese businesses in improving their production capacity, aiming for the goal of "Made in Vietnam - Japanese Quality".
Mr. Shuya Maniwa, President of the Vietnam-Japan Mold Club, believes that the future of Vietnam's supporting industries lies in the hands of today's young engineers. The competition is not only a test of skills but also a journey of learning, experience, and fostering creativity – a key factor for Vietnam to rise to become a new manufacturing hub in the region.
