The South Saigon Traffic Police team arrived to record the scene and used a crane to remove the steel coils. Upon examination, the driver had no alcohol in his system and tested negative for drugs. He stated that he braked suddenly to avoid a collision with another vehicle, causing the chain to break.

In May, a coil of steel crushed a truck cabin, causing it to deform before falling onto the sidewalk in Di An City, Binh Duong Province. Incidents involving trucks carrying coils of steel are common in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, and Dong Nai, posing a danger, yet there are no regulations in place to secure the cargo or to address violations to ensure safety.
