Before that, at 20:30 on the night of May 28, the cruise ship Han Giang 5 carried 6 tourists to visit the Han River. When approaching Tran Thi Ly bridge, the cruise ship Han Giang 70 suddenly ran aground.

Upon receiving the news, the Waterway Police Team of the Traffic Police Department, together with the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of the Da Nang City Police Department quickly implemented a coordination plan.
The rescue force mobilized officers, soldiers and canoes to approach and bring all 70 tourists to shore safely.
Previously, in order to serve the International Fireworks Festival, Han River Port temporarily stopped operating cruise ships to make a gathering place for fireworks, cruise ships moved to the foot of Tran Thi Ly Bridge to continue operating serve visitors. The location of the Han Giang 6 ship ran aground near the aforementioned temporary wharf.
It is known that Da Nang currently has 49,2 km of inland waterways, of which 8,3 km of the Han River has 21 cruise ships operating, serving 400-600 passengers/day and night on average.
