The opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games took place at the Rajamangala National Stadium (Bangkok), with some sources reporting that around 50,000 people attended.

The opening ceremony began with a 3D mapping light show across the entire field, recreating the history of the formation and development of the Kingdom of Thailand. Images deeply rooted in Thai culture, such as the ancient architecture of Ayutthaya, traditional dances, and the vibrant colors of famous festivals, were impressively presented through high-tech visual effects.

The SEA Games torch lighting ceremony was the highlight of the event. Thailand's legendary track and field athlete—an icon of the country's sports—was given the honor of lighting the Games' flame. The flame was ignited with a cascading effect along the stands using LED lights and flares, before bursting into flames at the torch stand, marking the official start of the 33rd SEA Games.
