General Le Van Dung has returned to his motherland.

On the afternoon of January 14th, at his private residence at 702 An Binh Hamlet, Phu Tuc Commune (Vinh Long Province), the Central Committee of the Communist Party, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front solemnly held the funeral ceremony for General Le Van Dung, Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

Attending the funeral ceremony were General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Head of the General Political Department; Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Minister of National Defense ; along with leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense; representatives of central and local departments and ministries; veteran revolutionary cadres, generals, family members and a large number of people.

Comrade Le Van Dung (birth name Nguyen Van Noi), born on December 25, 1945, from Phong My commune, Giong Trom district, Ben Tre province (now Luong Hoa commune, Vinh Long province); enlisted on May 14, 1963, and joined the Party on September 23, 1965.

After a period of serious illness, he passed away at 3:40 PM on January 9, 2026, at his home, at the age of 81.

Throughout his revolutionary career, he made immense contributions to the cause of the Party and the nation; he was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order, the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, the 60-Year Party Membership Badge, and many other prestigious medals and awards.

At the funeral ceremony, General Nguyen Trong Nghia, on behalf of the Funeral Organizing Committee and the family, respectfully thanked the leaders, former leaders, forces, agencies, localities, and fellow countrymen and friends who came to pay their respects, offer condolences, and bid farewell to General Le Van Dung, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, as he was laid to rest.
