(CLO) In recent days, onthe FPT Play, TV360, and MyTV television platforms, the VTV2 and VTV3 channels of Vietnam Television are no longer on the list. Vietnam Television (VTV) has just issued a response regarding this matter.

Accordingly, VTV has continuously invested in improving content quality and proactively distributed content across multiple platforms, from traditional television to the national digital television platform VTVgo. Besides VTV1, an essential free-to-air channel, VTV also offers a package of channels from VTV2 to VTV9, VTV Can Tho , and has collaborated with television service providers through broadcasting contracts for many years.

The VTV channel package has always been the basic package for all television services, playing a crucial role in attracting subscribers and generating significant revenue for telecommunications companies. However, the licensing fees that television service providers are paying to VTV do not accurately reflect the value that VTV's content brings to pay-TV providers.

According to VTV's announcement, "with the goal of ensuring a balance between the value of content, VTV's investment costs, and the interests of viewers and businesses, from the end of November 2024, VTV began working and exchanging information with pay-TV service providers about a new cooperation model. To date, many units have reached an agreement with VTV on cooperation in re-broadcasting. For units that have not yet reached an agreement, VTV does not have the necessary legal basis to continue providing signals for the entire VTV channel package."

Negotiations are currently ongoing in the hope of reaching a fair and harmonious agreement that benefits everyone.

At the same time, the entire VTV channel package is still being broadcast on national digital television platforms such as VTVgo, the DVB-T2 system (a free-to-air terrestrial digital broadcasting method that can be viewed on televisions manufactured from 2020 onwards), as well as pay television systems that have reached agreements with VTV.
