Ho Chi Minh City: Hundreds of people jostled and pushed while waiting to receive rice and charitable donations at a beauty salon in District 6, causing disorder.
On the afternoon of September 1st, a representative from the District 6 People's Committee stated that the unit had worked with the owner of the beauty salon where the incident of a large crowd gathering and causing disorder occurred during the distribution of charitable donations.
Yesterday afternoon, a beauty salon on An Duong Vuong Street, Ward 13, distributed 2.5 tons of rice and 500 envelopes containing 300,000 VND each. Hundreds of people gathered in front of the gate, spilling onto the road and pushing and shoving. Inside the fence, some ward police officers and neighborhood security guards reminded people to maintain order, but to no avail.

According to a video posted by the facility, hundreds of people pushed down the stainless steel gate and rushed inside to grab bags of rice. They then stormed into the facility, pushing and shoving, causing some people to faint and requiring them to be carried inside.
A representative from the District 6 People's Committee stated that the chaotic incident occurred because the distribution point did not anticipate the overwhelming number of people who showed up. The owner of the facility did not notify the ward in advance so that preparations could be made, and by the time people had gathered, they contacted the authorities, but by then, too few people had arrived to provide assistance. No one was injured in the incident.
The beauty salon refused to comment on the theft, and some unruly individuals threatened staff with knives.
During the full moon of the seventh lunar month, people traditionally offer sacrifices, scatter money for wandering spirits, or give alms to bring good luck and smooth sailing in their business. However, this often leads to scrambling for offerings, resulting in fights and disorder.
