Over the years, many good models and effective methods in the "Skilled Mass Mobilization" movement across various aspects of social life have been promoted and replicated by the Party Committee and government of Dong Thanh commune, Thanh Ba district. Most notably, the successful models of mass mobilization in economic development have contributed to changing the face of the new rural areas in the locality.
The Dong Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative in Thanh Ba district has invested in peanut oil production machinery, yielding high economic efficiency.
The Party Committee of Dong Thanh commune directed the commune's mass mobilization unit to coordinate with organizations and associations to propagate and encourage the people to choose suitable economic development models to implement and replicate, such as: establishing cooperatives, branches, and professional farmers' associations; guiding people to participate in collective economic models, helping each other develop the economy while effectively building product brands.
Mr. Vi Huu Khuong's cucumber farming model in Zone 8 is one of the economic development models that the commune's mass mobilization committee has promoted and encouraged families to participate in. Taking advantage of the fallow period after the spring crop, Mr. Khuong invested in planting nearly 3 hectares of Japanese cucumbers. In the first year, his family harvested 30 tons of cucumbers, worth nearly 300 million VND.
Mr. Khuong shared: “Initially, my family faced difficulties because this is a new melon variety, and we didn't know if it would be suitable for the local soil conditions. However, thanks to the awareness campaigns and mobilization efforts of the commune's mass mobilization team, along with technical guidance on planting and caring for the crop from the seed supplier, my family tried planting it, and the initial results were good. This year, I will continue to participate in the model with the hope of developing my family's economy effectively...”
Dong Thanh commune currently has over 90 hectares of land planted with peanuts, yielding nearly 21 quintals/hectare. In 2021, recognizing this advantage, the Dong Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative came up with the idea of investing in machinery to produce peanut oil under the brand name Dong Thanh Peanut Oil, contributing to the implementation of the "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) program.
Mr. Chu Van Tuan, Director of Dong Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative, said: "Thanks to initial advantages and the attention and support of the local Party committee, government, and specialized departments, in 2023, the cooperative invested in production equipment such as peanut oil presses, oil filters, bottling machines, and product labels... which have initially brought economic benefits. In 2024, the cooperative continued to invest in a large-capacity oil press (50 kg/hour) to meet the needs of the people. On average, the cooperative presses over 6 tons of peanuts per year, bringing in a profit of nearly 100 million VND. To date, Dong Thanh peanut oil products have been invested in production, have traceability labels, and have achieved OCOP 3-star product status."
It can be seen that the mass mobilization unit of Dong Thanh commune has propagated and encouraged the people to participate in models of peanut and melon cultivation, and young Party members to develop the economy with models of grape cultivation, chicken and pig farming, purple tea cultivation, etc., contributing to positive results.
To facilitate the people's economic development, the commune Party Committee directs the associations to maintain good credit guarantee groups for borrowing capital from various sources; regularly provides training in science and technology, and strengthens the application and transfer of technology in production and business for households.
The commune's mass mobilization committee and mass mobilization teams are stepping up propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage people to participate in economic models aimed at increasing product value, while also linking and sharing experiences, selecting suitable models, seeking markets and distribution channels to develop together...
Comrade Vi Van Phuc, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Thanh commune, said: The commune's mass mobilization work has been proactively and extensively implemented by the mass mobilization unit to all levels of the people. Through various models, people have boldly invested, transformed the economic structure, and focused on developing the economy towards commodity production, generating high incomes and contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality. Currently, the average per capita income in the commune is over 52 million VND/year, the poverty rate has decreased to 3.8%, and the commune achieved advanced new rural commune status in 2023.
