(CLO) At least 24 people were killed and more than 40 injured in a bombing at a train station in Quetta, southwestern Pakistan, on November 9.
The Inspector General of Police of Balochistan Province, Mouzzam Jah Ansari, said 24 people were killed in the bomb blast at the train station, which is usually very crowded early in the day. "The target was soldiers from the Infantry School," he said, adding that many of the injured are in critical condition.
"So far, 44 injured people have been brought to the civilian hospital," said Wasim Baig, a spokesman for the hospital.
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist militant group, claimed responsibility for the attack.

Senior police chief Muhammad Baloch said it appeared to be a suicide bombing and an investigation was underway to gather more information. "The explosion occurred inside the train station as the express train bound for Peshawar was preparing to depart for its destination," Baloch said.
Pakistan is grappling with a wave of attacks by separatist militants in the southern province of Balochistan and Islamist fighters in the northwest. The decades-long insurgency has destabilized Balochistan, creating security concerns for projects exploiting the province's untapped resources.
The BLA rebels are fighting for independence for Balochistan, a province of about 15 million people bordering Afghanistan to the north and Iran to the west. The BLA is the largest of several ethnic groups fighting against the government.
