1. From the cool highlands of Da Lat to the blue sea, white sand, and golden sunshine of Mui Ne, or the pristine beaches of Phu Quy Special Economic Zone, each destination possesses its own unique beauty, contributing to an ideal vacation space. Beyond its natural beauty, Lam Dong is also a land rich in cultural identity. The intermingling of ethnic groups such as the K'Ho, Cham, M'nong, and Ede creates a diverse culture reflected in festivals, traditional crafts, clothing, music , and cuisine. Grilled chicken with bamboo rice, banh can (rice pancake), Quang noodles, and rice wine are not only delicious dishes but also values that bind the community together and nurture the emotions of visitors.

In particular, Lam Dong has valuable medicinal herbs such as artichoke, Angelica sinensis, Polygonum multiflorum, and herbal teas. Medicinal herb cultivation areas are developing, serving the production of medicines, functional foods, and natural cosmetics. Furthermore, many private establishments offer massage, sauna, and skin care services using herbal therapies. Many local traditional medicine practitioners inherit and apply traditional remedies from Vietnamese medicine, such as gac fruit seed plasters, kidney tonics, and relaxing herbal steam treatments.

2. In the public healthcare sector, some units have expanded their healthcare services. For example, Binh Thuan Dermatology Hospital has implemented modern cosmetic techniques such as CO₂ laser, skin rejuvenation, melasma treatment, and scar treatment. Binh Thuan Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Hospital combines Eastern and Western medicine to treat diseases and provide healthcare. They also apply therapies such as steam therapy, herbal compresses, massage, and acupressure.

According to the leadership of Binh Thuan Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Hospital, in 2025, the unit will launch a spa and skin care service using hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The equipment and infrastructure are ready, promising high-quality beauty and relaxation services. In 2026, they plan to further develop a post-treatment recovery service area for patients, with patients paying 100% of the cost at a reasonable price.

According to Medical Tourism Statistics, the global health tourism industry is growing at 15-20% annually, making it one of the most dynamic segments today. The trend of traveling not only for relaxation but also for physical recovery and mental rejuvenation is becoming increasingly popular worldwide. In this context, Lam Dong province possesses all the necessary conditions for developing health tourism: pristine nature, a clean climate, abundant medicinal resources, diverse local culture, and an increasingly sophisticated healthcare service system. This represents not only potential but also an opportunity for Lam Dong to break through and become a leading destination in health care linked to local resources.

3. In reality, Lam Dong's tourism industry is showing clear growth. According to the Provincial Statistics Department, in July 2025, Lam Dong welcomed nearly 2 million visitors; the cumulative figure for the first seven months reached over 11.5 million, an increase of 13.82% compared to the same period last year. Also in the first seven months, international visitors reached over 791,000, and tourism revenue exceeded 31,000 billion VND. This provides a foundation for Lam Dong to promote the health tourism segment – a direction that both creates economic value and contributes to improving public health.

To further develop health tourism, it is essential to formulate a clear and focused strategy. This includes planning suitable medicinal herb cultivation areas; training healthcare and therapeutic personnel; and encouraging collaboration between public and private healthcare facilities and travel agencies. Designing specialized wellness and recovery tours that combine medical treatment with cultural experiences will enhance competitiveness. Furthermore, close cooperation between the healthcare, tourism, cultural sectors, and businesses will be key to transforming health tourism from a potential sector into a driving force for sustainable green economic development in the locality.
