A stroll with the photographer

Cao Minh Tung's passion for photography began around 1984. He witnessed his uncles and aunts taking pictures of red-crowned cranes with film cameras, and was so fascinated that he started researching and eventually bought a camera to learn. Since then, photography has been a way for him to relax and enrich his spiritual life.

Author Cao Minh Tung (Cao Thien Vu, Robert Dong Phuong Cao) was born in 1970 in the former Kien Giang province (now An Giang province) and graduated from the Polytechnic University in 1994.

He considers himself a "country bumpkin," so even though he has traveled to many regions across the country and visited 19 countries around the world , his homeland is always in his heart. Perhaps that's why whenever he returns to the Mekong Delta, he feels like he's coming home, reliving childhood memories, and comfortably immersing himself in the waterways of the Nine Dragons region .

With his love for nature, in his free time he enjoys wandering around, without any prior planning or specific goals, usually following his interests to explore and take photos as he pleases.

Besides his extensive landscape photography, he dedicates his time to creating works about birds, using diverse angles and close-ups to capture their amusing and adorable moments. With a deep love for folk literature and melodies, he often expresses his emotions through heartfelt six-line verses accompanying his photographs: “Remembering you, I compose this poem / Pressing it into my dreams to wait for my beloved / On bright moonlit nights / The moon seems to tease, making love fade into oblivion”; “You go to attend to the affairs of the nation / At home, I take care of the children in your place”...

Viewing photography as a companion on a journey where he can be free and unrestrained, shooting according to his emotions without being bound by anything, he once confided: "My photographic works may be nothing compared to others, but to me, they are my best spiritual creations, bringing me a sense of happiness."

Besides the creative inspiration, his travels with his camera also bring him joy as he visits many different regions, sits on the ground in his hometown, breathes in the scent of the countryside, and meets and chats with kind, honest working people. For him, photography is his greatest joy, as a companion to his hobby, when he can freely travel to secluded places, take countless photos as his emotions flow, and express his feelings through each click of the shutter.
