According to reporters, on Nguyen Duy Hieu and Le Hoan streets (Thanh Hoa City), traders from traditional ornamental plant villages have transported peach blossoms, kumquats, pomelos, etc., to display there to serve the shopping needs of the people.

The Tet flower street for the Year of the Rabbit 2023 on Nguyen Duy Hieu Street (Thanh Hoa City) has been operating for several days now. Every year, this place usually sells ornamental plants and flowers to serve people celebrating the New Year from the beginning of the twelfth lunar month.

Running along the sidewalks, the vibrant colors of peach blossoms, kumquats, and pomelos create a dazzling atmosphere, making the feeling of Tet (Vietnamese New Year) truly come alive.

When brought to the market, kumquat trees need careful care to keep them fresh longer and produce beautiful fruit.

According to vendors, ornamental plants and spring flowers are being sold earlier this year than usual because Tet (Lunar New Year) is fast approaching. This year, the weather has been quite favorable, so the kumquat trees are growing well and producing beautiful fruit.

Tall pomelo trees are priced between 17 and 20 million VND.

In particular, kumquat bonsai trees are both beautifully shaped and guaranteed to have plump, round fruits and green leaves. This year's kumquat prices are higher than in previous years, with the average price of a kumquat tree ranging from several hundred thousand to several million dong more.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung (born in 1983, residing in Thanh Hoa City), the owner of a pomelo stall with nearly 20 years of experience, said: "There are still almost 20 days until Tet (Lunar New Year), but I have already received many orders from companies and offices. This year, my pomelo orchard is blooming beautifully, with abundant fruit and at the right time, so most customers who come to see it are satisfied."

Regarding the kumquat bonsai stall of Mr. Nguyen The Long (Thanh Hoa City), he said: "I ordered more than 50 kumquat bonsai trees from Hung Yen to sell here. The price at the beginning of the season will definitely be higher than closer to Tet. According to assessments, the demand for ornamental plants this year will be high. Therefore, the price will also increase significantly compared to previous years."

Many people are fascinated by the impressive kumquat bonsai trees combined with driftwood. These products can be worth up to 50-70 million VND, depending on the pot.

The peach trees were imported from Moc Chau, Son La.

These pomelo trees, over 2 meters tall, are laden with plump, glossy, and evenly shaped fruit, captivating the attention of passersby. This type of ornamental tree is quite selective in its clientele and is typically reserved for offices, businesses, or homes with ample space. Each tree can bear around 50 or more pomelos. Prices can reach up to 70 million VND, depending on the type, age, and shape of the tree.

The scene of buying and selling, and strolling around the stalls selling peach blossoms and kumquats, remains sparse.

While shopping for ornamental plants for Tet (Lunar New Year) with her family, Ms. Le Thi Lan (59 years old, Thanh Hoa City) shared: "Every year, my family buys kumquat trees very early so we have more time to enjoy and admire them. To choose a satisfactory kumquat tree, the most important thing for me is that the tree must be lush and green, with large, round fruits and many flower buds so that it can bloom just in time for Tet."

Double-flowered peach blossoms are a popular choice among many people.

According to a survey by reporters, a small kumquat tree costs between 300,000 and 400,000 VND, while a larger one costs between 800,000 and 1 million VND. Meanwhile, a medium-sized peach tree costs between 1 and 3 million VND, with ancient trees costing tens of millions. As for pomelos, the starting price is 5 million VND or more.

Typically, flower and ornamental plant markets only become bustling after the Kitchen God Festival (the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month). Currently, the scene of buying and selling, and strolling around the stalls selling peach blossoms and kumquats, is not yet lively.
