This year's weather is predicted to be very cold and harsh right around Tet, so farmers are being quite cautious in their care. After stripping the leaves, the peach trees are fertilized and watered to encourage them to sprout buds and bloom in time for Tet. The peach orchards in Kien Phong and Minh Kha residential areas (An Hai ward); and Dan Hanh and Tri Yeu residential areas (An Duong ward) are ready to bloom and show off their beauty in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, serving the people celebrating the holiday. Ancient peach trees with unique and unusual shapes have become a long-standing brand for gardeners in An Hai and An Duong wards, bringing high economic value. The kumquat trees in the gardens are also bearing fruit evenly and will ripen in full force during Tet. Mr. Do Dinh Thang, residing in Tri Yeu area, An Duong ward, said: “My family has about 6 sao (approximately 0.6 hectares) of land planted with ornamental plants for Tet (Lunar New Year) sales, including about 200 peach trees and 150 kumquat trees. We've invested all year in caring for them, hoping for favorable weather so that the kumquats and peach trees will sell at a good price.” Many people came to the orchard to choose and order early-season peach blossoms. The ancient peach trees had to be uprooted and moved to their rented locations using cranes. Many beautiful plants have already been pre-ordered by buyers. Some peach trees in An Duong bloomed early, showing off their beauty.HOANG PHUOC
