Achieved over 300% of the 2024 target.

On December 25th, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union held a meeting of the Steering Committee for the Project "Supporting cooperatives managed by women, creating jobs for female workers until 2030" to develop a draft report evaluating the results of activities in 2024 and to propose directions and plans for activities in 2025.

According to the draft report evaluating the 2024 performance of the Steering Committee of the Project "Supporting women-managed cooperatives and creating jobs for female workers by 2030" (Project 01), as of December 15, 2024, the Women's Union at all levels had mobilized and supported the establishment of 246 new women-managed cooperatives (achieving 328% of the 2024 plan), attracting over 2,268 female members and creating jobs for 6,279 female workers.

Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union Tran Lan Phuong chaired the meeting.

The average income of cooperative members is 5 million VND/month, while the average income of workers is 2-3 million VND/month.

Participation in cooperatives and cooperative groups has helped members and women develop a need for linkages in production, reduce input costs, and increase the selling price of output products. Members and women participate in training courses to improve their capacity, share experiences, receive support in registering trademarks for local products, and are connected to support for loans to invest in purchasing production equipment to increase productivity and product quality, bringing economic benefits to member households, solving employment problems, addressing social issues in the locality, and contributing to building new rural areas...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuc Hanh, Member of the Presidium, Head of the Committee for Supporting Women's Economic Development, Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, delivered a speech at the meeting.

At the meeting, members of the Project Steering Committee exchanged and discussed the advantages, limitations, and causes of limitations in the implementation of the Project in 2024.

Despite achieving outstanding results, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Head of the Women's Economic Development Support Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, frankly pointed out that the work of mobilizing and educating members and women to participate in collective economic activities and cooperatives has not truly met the practical requirements. In addition, some Party committees, government agencies, and people have not yet recognized the important position of collective economic activities and cooperatives in the socio-economic development of their localities and the role of women in developing these activities.

Ms. Tran Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Head of the Women's Economic Development Support Committee, Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, and Mr. Dang Van Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Cooperative Economics, Ministry of Planning and Investment , delivered their remarks.

Accordingly, the Executive Board also plans to set the following goals for 2025 : to strengthen and improve the quality and efficiency of operations for at least 250 cooperatives and 1,500 cooperative groups managed and operated by women, supported by women's associations at all levels; to create stable jobs for 5,000 female members and workers in cooperatives; and 15,000 female workers in cooperative groups. 100% of female managers in cooperatives will receive training to improve their management and operational capacity in line with the cooperatives' business management activities; and to provide training and development for members, workers in cooperatives, and women who wish to participate in the development of the collective economy and cooperatives.

Mr. Nguyen Le Binh, Deputy Head of the National Office for Poverty Reduction, Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs , and Ms. Pham Thi To Oanh, Head of the Policy and Cooperative Development Department, Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, delivered speeches.

Concluding the meeting, Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union Tran Lan Phuong affirmed that Project 01 is of great significance to the participation of women in the collective economic sector and therefore requires the involvement of all levels and sectors. This is the first project on the collective economy that takes into account the specific characteristics of women, and is one of the solutions to promote the role of women in the development of the collective economy.

The delegates attending the meeting listened to the feedback.

Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union, Tran Lan Phuong, emphasized that in 2025, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union will continue to advise and support cooperatives managed and operated by women to further consolidate and improve the quality and efficiency of their operations. In particular, it will advise on removing obstacles to support cooperatives in accessing credit for production and business development.
