Cybercriminals are setting up a plethora of fake websites, virtual lotteries, and schemes to recruit "test subjects" in order to collect personal information and financial data, posing risks ranging from data loss to financial damage.

A phishing website impersonating Apple's official website features a "Order Now" button that leads to a form collecting users' financial data.

A common scam involves fake Apple Store websites offering pre-orders for the iPhone 17 with a warning that it's "selling fast." When users enter their payment information, their bank card data is immediately stolen. Additionally, scammers launch fake lotteries offering free iPhones, requiring victims to fill out surveys, provide phone numbers and email addresses, and pay shipping fees. To build trust, they even include fake comments claiming the prize has been claimed.

Another tactic is the "iPhone 17 early experience" campaign, targeting tech enthusiasts. Participants are required to provide their address, contact information, and pay for shipping, but ultimately receive no product, only spam emails and become targets of subsequent attacks.

A fake "Apple loyalty program" is offering free new iPhones as a scam.

According to Tatyana Shcherbakova, Web Content Analyst at Kaspersky, "Cybercriminals always know how to exploit the hype surrounding major product launches, turning user excitement into opportunities to steal data. Our observations show that these scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated, no longer just rudimentary fake emails, but have evolved into websites with interfaces similar to legitimate sites. Users need to be vigilant, always verify information, and avoid acting impulsively to prevent becoming victims of these threats."

Experts recommend measures to protect yourself from the wave of scams capitalizing on the iPhone 17 launch event:

- Only buy from official sources: Order through Apple's website, authorized retailers, or verified carriers, and avoid accessing fake sites.

- Always check links and be wary of suspicious offers: Do not click on emails, messages, or automated advertisements promising promotions or prizes.

- Do not share personal data to receive "free" gifts: Reputable programs rarely ask for sensitive information upfront. If asked for your name, card number, or address, consider it a warning sign.

- Enable multi-factor authentication and monitor your account: Activate two-factor authentication (2FA) for your Apple ID and financial apps, and regularly check your statements to detect unusual transactions early.
