Recognizing tea as a key crop, suitable for the local climate and soil, and providing stable economic value for the people, Pac Ta village, Pha Long commune, has focused on developing and expanding its commercial tea growing area.

During village meetings, emphasis is placed on disseminating information and encouraging villagers to compete in economic development.

Recognizing the crucial role of tea cultivation in increasing income and stabilizing livelihoods, the Pac Ta Village Farmers' Association has proactively promoted and encouraged its members to expand tea cultivation areas. Association meetings and announcements via the village's public address system aim to change perceptions and encourage farmers to invest boldly in tea farming. Simultaneously, the association collaborates with commune agricultural extension officers to provide technical guidance, support with seeds and fertilizers, and connect farmers with markets for their products. Recently, the village has organized eight sessions on tea cultivation and care techniques, attracting over 120 members.

Locals were given guidance on techniques for planting and caring for tea plants.

Thanks to the active involvement of the government and organizations, Pac Ta has now developed a commercial tea growing area of over 20 hectares, of which 8 hectares are yielding stable harvests. Yields reach 2-3 tons of fresh tea buds/hectare/year, bringing in an average income of 30-40 million VND/hectare.

The commercial tea cultivation model in Pac Ta village is a concrete example of a shift in production mindset, demonstrating the resilience and determination of the people of Pha Long to overcome difficulties and escape poverty. Many households, such as those of Ms. Lo Then Sin and Mr. Giang Chung Sui, have boldly expanded their cultivated areas and adopted new techniques, contributing to a vibrant tea cultivation movement in the village. Linking with purchasing facilities, especially the Muong Khuong Tea Processing Cooperative, has helped the village's tea products achieve a more stable market.

However, Pac Ta still faces some difficulties such as: some members still have a mentality of waiting for support and are hesitant to invest in expansion; the harvesting techniques of some households are not yet up to standard, affecting product quality; and the output still mainly depends on traders, lacking its own brand.

Ms. Lu Thi Hong, Head of the Farmers' Association in Pac Ta village, said: In the coming time, the association will continue to promote the economic benefits of tea cultivation, expand the "farmer-to-farmer" model, open training courses on safe tea production, and mobilize members to apply mechanization and high-quality varieties. The establishment of the collective brand "Pha Long Tea" is considered an important step to enhance the product's value and expand its market. The association also requested the government to provide preferential loans, seeds, fertilizers, and encourage the effective operation of tea cooperatives and associations.

Organizations and the people of Pha Long are working together in the tea planting movement.

Not only Pac Ta village, but the entire Pha Long commune, with its 35 villages, is undergoing significant transformation thanks to the State's investment and the people's unity. National target programs for sustainable poverty reduction, socio-economic development in ethnic minority areas, and new rural development have all received strong support and active participation from the people. As a result, the rural landscape in Pha Long is increasingly improving; infrastructure has been enhanced, with 100% of villages having roads accessible by cars and motorbikes to the center, 100% of villages having access to the national power grid, and 92% of households having access to television. All children of school age attend school, the material and spiritual lives of the people are improving, and security and order are maintained.

Over the years, the Pha Long Commune Farmers' Association has affirmed its role as a solid support and a reliable bridge helping the people of Pha Long access science and technology, develop their economy, and gradually rise out of poverty sustainably. Along with that, the movement "Farmers competing in excellent production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" has spread strongly, becoming a driving force for the shift in household economic structure. Many households in Pha Long have become exemplary models thanks to their bold application of science and technology and the introduction of specialty crops and livestock such as black pigs, black chickens, and VH6 pears into production. The entire commune currently has 283 hectares of fruit trees, including more than 113 hectares of organic VH6 pears, which yield high efficiency and are linked to consumption through e-commerce. Many successful production and business households can be mentioned, such as Mr. Hang Trang Pao's household, which raises black pigs; The households of Mr. Thào Seo Lìn and Mr. Giàng Văn Lẻng are growing VH6 pears... Through the emulation movement, outstanding farmers and business owners have actively supported poor households annually with technical expertise, production experience, and assistance with seedlings and livestock, contributing to achieving the target of reducing the poverty rate to 13.06% by 2025.

In addition, the Pha Long Commune Farmers' Association has promoted service and support activities for local people. The association coordinated the promotion and sale of OCOP-certified products through e-commerce; organized 12 agricultural and forestry extension sessions with over 2,000 members; provided vocational training to 500 farmers on green, organic, and circular agriculture ; disseminated legal information to over 2,300 people and provided legal assistance to 216 cases. The transfer of science and technology and digital transformation were also prioritized, with 5 training courses and nearly 200 members participating to enhance their digital knowledge.

Mr. Hoang Sao Chan, Chairman of the Pha Long Commune Farmers' Association, said: "We will actively encourage our members and farmers to actively compete in production and business, linking and cooperating in production along the value chain, ensuring food safety. At the same time, we will encourage and mobilize successful farmers and outstanding farmers to actively participate in guiding and supporting other farmers to develop their economy and escape poverty sustainably."

From the green shoots of the Pac Ta tea plantation to the emerging collective economic models, Pha Long is transforming itself strongly day by day on the path to sustainable poverty reduction. It is hoped that Pha Long commune will continue to build upon its achievements, unleash the potential of its farmers, spread effective economic models, and develop ecological agriculture, a prosperous rural area, and wealthy, civilized farmers.
