Cancelo is set to leave Al Hilal in the January transfer window. |
AS reports that Al Hilal's management has agreed with coach Simone Inzaghi to release Cancelo as soon as possible. Inzaghi's failure to register Cancelo for the second half of the Saudi League season is a clear sign that his time at Al Hilal is coming to an early end.
According to Gulf Times , coach Inzaghi does not rate Cancelo highly, and some sources even reveal that the strategist is very angry with the defender's somewhat undisciplined and forward-leaning style of play. Currently, the 31-year-old is only allowed to play in the AFC Champions League and domestic cups, leading him to yearn to return to Europe to maintain his form before the 2026 World Cup.
Inter Milan have approached Al Hilal to inquire about a loan deal for Cancelo with an option to buy. Additionally, Barcelona and Juventus have also contacted Al Hilal regarding Cancelo's situation. His agent, Jorge Mendes, is actively exploring options for his client.
However, Cancelo is almost certain to leave Al Hilal. He can hardly stay at the Saudi Arabian club if he doesn't want to lose his place in the 2026 World Cup squad for Portugal.
