The Nintendo Switch 2 game cartridges are red to distinguish them from the original Switch (which was black). The device also supports microSD Express memory cards, whereas the original Switch was not compatible with microSD cards.

Nintendo also introduced a new feature called GameShare, which allows Switch 2 users to play online games with other consoles on the same network, even if they don't own the game. In addition to the Joy-Con 2, Nintendo also introduced the Pro Controller for the Switch 2, which adds two "GL" and "GR" buttons on the back, a "C" button, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
During the event, Nintendo introduced several games for the Switch 2, including Kirby Air Ride , Donkey Kong Bananza , Mario Kart World , and Hollow Knight: Silksong . Among them, the racing game Mario Kart World supports up to 24 players, features an open -world mode, and changes weather over time.
According to Bloomberg , the Switch 2 has the potential to boost sales for Nintendo. To attract players, the Japanese company is partnering with several third-party game studios, releasing popular games not available on the original Switch, such as Cyberpunk 2077 , Street Fighter 6 , and Final Fantasy 7 Remake .

Some games from the original Switch also have upgraded versions for the Switch 2, although players have to pay for them. Additionally, the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack service will support some GameCube games, the console that launched in 2001.
According to The Verge , the Nintendo Switch, launched in 2017, was a huge success for Nintendo with sales of 150 million units, approaching the sales figures of the Nintendo DS (155 million) and the Sony PlayStation 2 (160 million).
Despite being eight years old, Nintendo has been releasing games for the first-generation Switch in recent months. The system also marks a new direction for Nintendo beyond gaming, such as expanding theme parks and making feature films.
