Empowering women to thrive
Nam Khanh Vinh commune has over 85% of its population belonging to ethnic minorities, and its economic conditions remain challenging. Following the floods at the end of 2025, the lives of many households became even more difficult. Together with the local authorities, the Women's Union of the commune mobilized resources to provide 180 saplings (durian, rambutan, pomelo, custard apple, jackfruit) and 6 piglets to 63 households severely affected by the disaster. Ms. Le Thi Thu Ha, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and Chairwoman of the Women's Union, stated: “To help women have the conditions to resume production and develop their family economy, the Union selected suitable plant and animal varieties that match the soil and farming practices of the people, creating sustainable and long-term livelihoods. Through monitoring, the crops and livestock are growing well, initially yielding positive results and giving women more confidence in restoring production.” Ms. Cao Thi Bao (Bau Sang village) is one of the households that received support. After the floods in November 2025, which submerged her house to a depth of nearly 2 meters, damaging many belongings and causing hardship, she received support from the association in the form of rambutan, durian, and pomelo saplings to plant in her garden. To date, the trees have grown well, contributing to the family's gradual stabilization of their lives and economic development.

Meanwhile, the Women's Union of Tan Dinh commune provided three livelihood support packages, each consisting of 100 chicks, to help poor and disadvantaged women develop their family economies. One of the recipients was Ms. Do Thi Mai Hong (Tan Binh village). Ms. Hong's family is a poor household in the locality, lacking stable employment and having an unstable income. Ms. Hong shared: "Previously, my family raised chickens, but due to disease, all the chickens died; we wanted to rebuild but lacked capital, so we had to work as laborers to make ends meet. Now, with the support of the Women's Union in providing chicks, I am very happy because I have the opportunity to rebuild the flock, create a source of income, and gradually stabilize my life."
Diverse forms of livelihood provision
Women's associations at all levels have proactively implemented and coordinated diverse forms of livelihood support, tailored to the needs and specific conditions of each locality. Specifically, the Cam An Commune Women's Union provided three livelihood support packages to three disadvantaged members in the villages of Vinh Trung, Hien Luong, and Vinh Nam. Each package included 2 million VND in cash to help members purchase chicken feed, build chicken coops, and acquire additional breeding stock. While not substantial, this support is practical and timely, providing women with the means to develop livestock farming models at home. This, in turn, creates stable livelihoods, increases income, and improves the lives of women.

Meanwhile, the Women's Union of Dien Tho commune, in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, provided livelihood support to 55 disadvantaged households whose poultry suffered losses during the floods at the end of 2025. Each household received 72 chicks along with technical guidance on care, disease prevention, and breeding to help families develop their poultry flocks effectively and increase their income. This is a practical activity in the local social welfare work; at the same time, it demonstrates the role of organizations in accompanying and supporting women members and people to overcome difficulties and work together to achieve the goal of sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.

Providing livelihood support will not only stop at initial assistance but will also include technical guidance, monitoring, and evaluation of effectiveness to ensure sustainability, helping women confidently develop economically and stabilize their lives.
