In order to meet the recreational needs of children and provide them with a fun, healthy, beneficial, safe, and wholesome summer vacation, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Youth Union has directed its subordinate branches to organize practical summer activities and events, creating a favorable environment for children's comprehensive development.

Promoting the pioneering and voluntary role of Youth Union members, young people, and officials in charge of children's affairs in organizing summer activities for children and teenagers.

Comrade Hoang Anh Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, stated: Following the directives of the Central and Provincial authorities, since mid-May, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union has issued a plan to respond to the "Month of Action for Children" and organize summer activities for children in 2025. With the theme "Prioritizing resources to achieve goals for children," the Provincial Youth Union has directed 100% of districts, cities, and youth unions in communes, wards, and towns to organize summer activities for children in their residential areas, and to organize training courses on youth work for youth union and team leaders. In addition, the handover of students for summer activities has been meticulously prepared by the Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Youth Council, with the guidance of school youth teams and youth union branches in communes, wards, and towns.

Accordingly, from June 1st to August 31st, the youth union members, youth leaders, and officials in charge of children's affairs will play a leading and voluntary role in organizing summer activities, mobilizing social resources to effectively organize activities to care for disadvantaged children; organizing educational , recreational, and skill-building activities for children; and organizing activities to care for, support, and promote children's right to participation...

There are many activities, playgrounds, and entertainment venues for teenagers during the summer.

During the summer, all levels of the Youth Union in the province strive to organize at least 30 free swimming classes for children, and establish 9 volunteer youth teams to raise awareness and prevent drowning among children. They will also implement the "Digital Literacy Movement," creating opportunities for children, especially those in rural and disadvantaged areas, to access knowledge about digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI)...

One of the new features in recent years' summer activity programs is that children are taught life skills. Instead of just practicing scout rituals, the children are now learning skills to prevent drowning, protect against child abuse, prevent accidents and injuries, and participate in traffic safely…

The Youth Union and the Student Union of Tan Hoa Primary School (Phu Binh) conducted training on drowning prevention and taught basic swimming skills to students during the summer.

On June 7th, the Youth Union of Thanh Dinh commune (Dinh Hoa district) organized a session to disseminate knowledge about the Children's Law, provide training on youth group activities, and teach some folk dances to over 200 children and youth group leaders of the commune.

Ms. Ban Thi Oanh, Secretary of the Youth Union of Thanh Dinh commune: This summer, the commune welcomed 800 children to participate in activities. From the end of May, the commune's Youth Union directed 14 branches to develop plans to organize Children's Day celebrations on June 1st and other summer activities suitable to the actual conditions of each branch. As a rural area, gathering young people to participate in summer activities is difficult, so the branches will focus on promoting information and knowledge dissemination through village loudspeaker systems and social media…

Meanwhile, the Youth Union and the Student Union of Tan Hoa Primary School (Phu Binh) recently organized training on drowning prevention and taught basic swimming skills to students. Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Yen, the teacher in charge of the Student Union, said: "As a locality with many rivers, streams, ponds, and lakes, we have prioritized free swimming lessons for students in recent years. However, due to having to rent private swimming pools, and with limited financial resources, while students from disadvantaged backgrounds receive 100% support, other students still have to pay for pool access, so this activity has not been expanded."

The Youth Union of Thai Nguyen Newspaper organized a screening of the film "The Adventures of Cricket" for young people and their parents, a meaningful activity during the summer.

While the efforts of youth organizations at all levels in creating playgrounds for children are evident, the reality is that not all children benefit from meaningful programs and activities. In some youth organizations, although plans are widely implemented, the effectiveness is only truly good in areas with favorable conditions such as towns, wards, central communes, or communes with summer volunteer youth teams. In rural areas, especially in remote communes, organizing summer activities for children faces many difficulties due to geographical conditions and the fact that some children are working to help their parents. Furthermore, most youth organizations in these areas lack sufficient funding. In addition, playgrounds and spaces for children are not available in every locality.

Given this reality, in order for children to truly live in a safe and healthy environment, and in particular to have a joyful and meaningful summer, in addition to the pioneering efforts of youth organizations, it is essential to have the attention of Party committees and authorities at all levels, and the joint efforts of families, schools, and the entire community.
