To give your child a perfect summer

After months of studying and exams, summer is the most anticipated time of the year for all students. However, for many parents, summer is not only a time of joy but also a source of worry: How can they ensure their children have a fun and enriching vacation while still being able to work with peace of mind?

Ms. Nguyen Thi An (residing in My Binh ward, Long Xuyen city) lamented: “When our children start their summer break, we have another worry. Parents going to work, leaving children to play all day at home, is unsettling. After much deliberation, my family decided to send our children back to our hometown to be cared for by their grandparents.” This is a common situation for many families, as work pressure makes it difficult for parents to dedicate their full time to their children during the long holiday. Sending children back to their hometown is a temporary solution, but is it the optimal choice for a child's holistic development? Therefore, many parents are paying more attention to their children's mental health. Instead of relentlessly chasing after a packed schedule of extra classes, they have chosen a truly meaningful summer for their children – a summer for rest, enjoyment, and to fully experience childhood. This perspective marks a positive shift in educational thinking, as parents realize that learning is not limited to book knowledge, but also encompasses experiences, life skills, and emotional development.

Have a fun and enriching vacation with your child.

One of the preferred options for many parents is enrolling their children in life skills summer camps. These activities allow children to play, learn essential skills, participate in group experiences, and develop independence and communication skills. According to Mr. Tan Loc (Binh Khanh ward, Long Xuyen city), enrolling his child in the "Military Semester" organized by the An Giang Provincial Youth Union in coordination with the 330th Division will be a great opportunity for his child to develop discipline, foster independence, and hone essential skills for a more mature life.

Instead of academically intensive programs, in recent years, parents have also been enrolling their children in soft skills training classes and talent development programs. Responding to this trend, talent, sports , and soft skills classes have become very diverse. Mr. Minh Tam (My Binh Ward, Long Xuyen City) shared: “Last year, my child participated in a summer field trip at an English center. He was very enthusiastic and kept talking about it. This summer, I'm looking for talent classes for him to participate in. Of course, I've discussed it beforehand to find out what my child wants to learn. The main goal is for the children to have fun, not to put too much pressure on them to accumulate knowledge or study too much.”

Besides enrolling their children in summer courses and camps, many parents also choose the option of "spending summer vacation with their children." After more than nine months of being busy with school, tests, and exams, children deserve a real break. This is when parents can make up for lost time during the year, explore the world with their children, and experience new things. "Spending summer vacation with your children" doesn't necessarily have to be expensive trips or complicated plans. Sometimes, it's simply: reading books and telling stories together to nurture a love of reading and creativity, or cooking, gardening, and participating in community activities to help children understand social responsibility and compassion. These moments strengthen family bonds and provide invaluable life lessons that children cannot learn from any book or classroom," said Ms. Phuong Thao (resident of Binh Khanh ward, Long Xuyen city).
