In 2025, Vietnam's tourism sector embarked on a new phase with the aspiration for breakthroughs. National and international events, particularly the parade commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification in Ho Chi Minh City, and the program celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd in Hanoi , created a strong ripple effect.
The image of a modern Vietnam, rich in cultural identity, is being conveyed to the world through parades, marches, and cultural events. The S-shaped country has become the center of attention for friends from other countries.
International media outlets extensively covered the event, emphasizing that it was not only a large-scale performance but also an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its historical milestones and current development path.
The impact of major national events has created golden opportunities for Vietnamese tourism to "take off." According to the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, despite being in the low season for international tourism, the positive results in July and August show clear signs of recovery and growth in the international tourist market to Vietnam.
Experts explain that this unprecedented growth is the result of a series of strategic initiatives from the Government, such as facilitating international tourists through a more open visa policy; significantly enhancing air connectivity by expanding international routes, including important direct flights from major cities in Europe, North America, and the Middle East; and an effective marketing campaign to promote diverse tourism products with the ability to capture global tourism trends.
Nevertheless, according to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong at the recent National Tourism Conference 2025 themed "Collaboration - Choosing Destinations - Accelerating Growth," the target of welcoming 25 million international tourists is "a very large number, requiring the entire industry to strive for it."
To achieve the goal of welcoming 25 million international tourists by 2025, Vietnam's tourism industry needs a comprehensive strategy, closely combining solutions in policy, products, linkages, promotion, and focusing on effectively exploiting key markets, improving product quality, etc.
A delicious bowl of pho on a street corner, a friendly smile, a engaging community tourism tour... these could be the "specialties" that tourists will remember and return to. Vietnam also needs to position itself as a "value destination" – a place where tourists find cultural and historical depth and a blend of tradition and modernity.
Only by preserving its unique identity, improving service quality, and investing in integrated infrastructure can breakthroughs truly be sustainable. And then, these impressive figures will not only be achievements, but also proof of Vietnam's new position on the global tourism map.
The combined efforts and synergy of government agencies, businesses, and localities will be the key factor determining the success of Vietnamese tourism in 2025.
